heart, and so Allah set forth His example, saying: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth." He began with the light of His own Self, may He be exalted, then He mentioned the light of the believer and said: "The example of the light of one who believes in Him." He said: Ubayy ibn Ka'b used to recite it: "The example of the light of one who believes in Him," and he is the believer in whose heart faith and the Qur'an have been placed.

14554 - Muhammad ibn 'Ammar ibn al-Harith narrated to us, [saying]: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Sa'd al-Dashtaki reported, [saying]: 'Amr ibn Abi Qays informed us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth," he says: The example of His light is like the example of the light of one who believes in Allah.

14555 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Salih reported, [saying]: Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "The example of His light," like the example of His guidance in the heart of the believer. It was also narrated from 'Ikrimah similar to the hadith of 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah.

14556 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn Abi Hammad reported, [saying]: al-Hakam ibn Bashir reported from 'Amr ibn Qays, from Sulayman al-A'mash: "The example of His light" which He placed in the heart of the believer, and in his hearing and his sight.

And the Second Aspect:

14557 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya ibn Yaman reported, from Ash'ath, from Ja'far, from Sa'id: "The example of His light," he said: Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. It was also narrated from Ka'b al-Ahbar similarly.

And the Third Aspect:

14558 - It was read to Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la, [saying]: Ibn Wahb informed us, [saying]: 'Abd Allah ibn 'Ayyash informed me, from Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the saying of Allah: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light," and His light that He mentioned is the Qur'an, and its example which was set for it is "light upon light," illuminating one another.

14559 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, [saying]: Ibn 'Ulayyah reported, from Abu Raja' from al-Hasan regarding the saying of Allah: "The example of His light," he said: The example of the Qur'an in the heart.

14560 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, [saying]: Nasr ibn 'Ali reported, [saying]: My father informed me from Shibl ibn 'Abbad from Qays ibn Sa'd, from 'Ata' from Ibn 'Abbas: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth, the example of His light,"
