14604 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Ghassan reported, [saying]: Qays reported from Khusayf, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "Olive, neither of the East nor of the West," he said: It is not eastern, so the sun does not strike it when it sets, nor western, so the sun does not strike it when it rises; rather, it is both eastern and western, as the sun strikes it when it rises and when it sets.
14605 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, [saying]: al-Husayn ibn 'Ali reported, [saying]: 'Amir ibn al-Furat reported, [saying]: Asbat reported from al-Suddi regarding his saying: "Olive, neither of the East nor of the West," he says: It is not eastern, such that the East attains it to the exclusion of the West, and it is not western, such that the West attains it to the exclusion of the East; rather, it is upon the peak of a mountain or an open desert, and the sun strikes it all day long.
14606 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Yahya ibn al-Mughirah reported, [saying]: Jarir informed us from 'Ata', from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "Olive, neither of the East nor of the West. Its oil would almost glow," he said: It is the best of oil. He said: When the sun rises, it strikes it from the direction of the East, and when it begins to set, the sun strikes it; thus, the sun strikes it in the morning and in the evening, and that is why it is not considered eastern nor western.
