His saying: "And Allah has created every moving creature from water."

14725 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Asbagh informed us, [saying]: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "And Allah has created every moving creature from water," he said: The water is the nutfah (sperm drop) from the males.

His saying: "among them are those that walk on their bellies" to His saying: "four."

14726 - Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani informed us in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Isma'il ibn 'Abd al-Karim informed us, [saying]: 'Abd al-Samad ibn Ma'qil narrated to me that he heard his uncle, Wahb ibn Munabbih, say: 'Uzayr said: O Lord, You created from water the moving creatures of the water and the birds of the sky. You created from them blind ones whose eyes You gave sight, and deaf ones whose ears You gave hearing, and those dead in soul whom You brought to life. You created all of that with a single word. Among them are those whose life is in water, and among them are those who have no endurance for water—creations differing in bodies and colors. You organized them into species, joined them into pairs, created them in varieties, and inspired them with that for which You created them. Then You created from soil and water the moving creatures of the earth, its cattle, and its beasts of prey. Among them are those that walk on their bellies, and among them are those that walk on two legs, and among them are those that walk on four, and among them are the great and the small.

His saying: "Allah creates what He wills."

14727 - By the same chain, from Wahb ibn Munabbih, he said: 'Uzayr said: O Lord, O Allah, by Your word You created all Your creation; it came to be upon Your will, without You incurring expense in it and without You experiencing fatigue. Your Throne was upon the water, the darkness was upon the air, the angels were bearing Your Throne and glorifying You with Your praise, and the creation was obedient to You, humbled by fear of You. No light was seen in it except Your light, and no sound was heard in it except Your hearing. Then the treasury of light and the path of darkness were opened, and they became night and day, alternating by Your command.

His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, Allah is over all things competent."

14728 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn 'Amr Zunayj reported to us, [saying]: Salamah reported to us, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "Indeed, Allah is over all things competent," meaning: Allah is competent over what He desires for His servants, whether it be retribution or forgiveness.
