14834 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid reported to us, Yazid ibn Zuray‘ reported to us, Sa‘id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And the women of post-menopause who do not hope for marriage," he said: This is the woman who has ceased [from childbearing], who does not menstruate and does not let her mind dwell on sexual intercourse. Allah has granted her a concession to lay aside her jilbab (outer garment).
14835 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Harawi reported to us, Hajjaj reported to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid: "Who do not hope for marriage," meaning they do not desire it.
14836 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed me in what he wrote to me, Asbagh reported to us, he said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd say: My father used to say regarding the saying of Allah: "And the women of post-menopause who do not hope for marriage," he said: Laying aside the khimar (head covering) for those who do not hope for marriage, those who have reached a state where they have no need for men, and men have no need for them.
His saying (the Exalted): "Then there is no blame upon them."
14837 - Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, Ibn Bukayr reported to us, Ibn Lahi‘ah narrated to me, ‘Ata’ narrated to me, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr: "Then there is no blame upon them," meaning no sin.
His saying (the Exalted): "That they lay aside their garments."

14838 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi reported to us, Sufyan reported to us, from ‘Alqamah, from Zirr, from Abu Wa’il, from ‘Abd Allah: "Then there is no blame upon them that they lay aside their garments," he said: The jilbab or the rida’ (cloak), Sufyan was unsure.
14839 - Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Malik ibn Zanjawayh narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq reported to us, al-Thawri reported to us, from al-A‘mash, from Malik ibn al-Harith, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Yazid, from Ibn Mas‘ud regarding His saying: "That they lay aside their garments," he said: It is the rida’.
14840 - Usayd ibn ‘Asim narrated to us, Bishr ibn ‘Umar reported to us, Shu‘bah reported to us, al-Hakam informed me, he said: I heard Abu Wa’il, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Mas‘ud regarding this verse: "Then there is no blame upon them that they lay aside their garments," he said: Their jalabib (plural of jilbab).
It has been narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas, Ibn ‘Umar in one of the narrations, Sulayman ibn Yasar in one of the narrations, Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, Jabir ibn Zayd, Ibrahim al-Nakha‘i, and Mujahid that it is the jilbab.

١٤٨٣٤ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ وَالْقَوَاعِدُ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ اللاتِي لا يَرْجُونَ نِكَاحًا قَالَ: وَهِيَ الْمَرْأَةُ الْقَاعِدُ الَّتِي لَا تَحِيضُ وَلا تُحَدِّثُ نَفْسَهَا بِالْبَاءَةِ، رَخَّصَ اللَّهُ لَهَا أَنْ تَضَعَ مِنْ جِلْبَابِهَا.
١٤٨٣٥ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْهَرَوِيُّ، ثنا حَجَّاجٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ اللاتِي لا يَرْجُونَ نِكَاحًا لَا يُرِدْنَهُ.
١٤٨٣٦ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، أَنْبَأَ أَصْبَغُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدٍ قَالَ: كَانَ أَبِي يَقُولُ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: وَالْقَوَاعِدُ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ اللاتِي لا يَرْجُونَ نِكَاحًا قَالَ: وَضْعُ الْخِمَارِ اللاتِي لَا يَرْجُونَ نِكَاحًا الَّتِي قَدْ بَلَغَتْ أَنْ لَا يَكُونَ لَهَا فِي الرِّجَالِ حَاجَةٌ وَلا يَكُونَ لِلرِّجَالِ فِيهَا حَاجَةٌ.
قوله تعالى: فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِنَّ جُنَاحٌ
١٤٨٣٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا ابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِنَّ جُنَاحٌ يَعْنِى حَرَجًا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: أَنْ يَضَعْنَ ثِيَابَهُنَّ

١٤٨٣٩ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ زَنْجُويَهِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ «١» ، ثنا الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَوْلُهُ: أَنْ يَضَعْنَ ثِيَابَهُنَّ قَالَ: هُوَ الرِّدَاءُ.
١٤٨٤٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أُسَيْدُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَرَ أنبأ شُعْبَةُ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْحَكَمُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا وَائِلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فِي هَذِهِ الآيَةِ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِنَّ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ يَضَعْنَ ثِيَابَهُنَّ قَالَ: جَلابِيبَهُنَّ.
وَرُوِِىِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ فِي إِحْدَى الرِّوَايَاتِ وَسُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ فِي إِحْدَى الرِّوَايَاتِ وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ وَجَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّخَعِيِّ وَمُجَاهِدٍ أَنَّهُ الْجِلْبَابُ.
