The healthy person would precede him to the spot and he could not compete, so "There is no blame upon the blind, nor is there blame upon the lame" was revealed, meaning: there is no blame upon someone who eats with the lame person.

The Second Aspect

14866 - My father narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Sa'id reported to us, Sufyan reported to us, from Isma'il, from al-Suddi or someone else regarding His saying: "There is no blame upon the blind, nor is there blame upon the lame," he said: The bedridden.

14867 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid reported to us by way of reading, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb ibn Shabur informed us, 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' informed me, from his father: "nor is there blame upon the lame," it is said: this is regarding Jihad.

His saying, the Exalted: "nor is there blame upon the sick."

14868 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr reported to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "nor is there blame upon the sick." He said: They used to consider it sinful to eat with the sick person, saying: "He cannot eat like the healthy person," so "nor is there blame upon the sick" was revealed, meaning: there is no blame upon someone who eats with the sick person.

His saying, the Exalted: "nor upon yourselves that you eat from your houses... to... the houses of your brothers."

14869 - Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani reported to me in what he wrote to me, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "There is no blame upon the blind," the verse, he said: A man would take a blind, lame, or sick person to the house of his father, the house of his brother, the house of his sister, the house of his paternal aunt, or the house of his maternal aunt. The disabled would consider it sinful, saying: "They are only taking us to the houses of others." So this verse was revealed as a concession for them.

14870 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "nor upon yourselves that you eat from your houses or the houses of your fathers." He said: There were disabled men—blind or lame, and in need—whom men would take along to their houses. If they did not find food for them there, they would go to their fathers and whoever was counted with them from the houses. Those who were followed disliked that, so Allah revealed regarding that: "There is no blame upon you," and permitted them food wherever they found it.

الصَّحِيحُ يَسْبِقُهُ إِلَى الْمَكَانِ وَلا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يُزَاحِمَ فَنَزَلَتْ لَيْسَ عَلَى الأَعْمَى حَرَجٌ وَلا عَلَى الأَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ يَعْنِى وَلَيْسَ عَلَى مَنْ أَكَلَ مَعَ الأَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ.

الْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي

١٤٨٦٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ أَوْ غَيْرِهِ فِي قَوْلِهِ لَيْسَ عَلَى الأَعْمَى حَرَجٌ وَلا عَلَى الأَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ قَالَ: الْمُقْعَدُ.

١٤٨٦٧ - أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ قِرَاءَةً، أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ شَابُورَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَلا عَلَى الأَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ فَيُقَالُ: هَذَا فِي الْجِهَادِ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى وَلا عَلَى الْمَرِيضِ حَرَجٌ

١٤٨٦٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يحى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَوْلَهُ وَلا عَلَى الْمَرِيضِ حَرَجٌ قَالَ: كَانُوا يَتَحَرَّجُونَ الأَكْلَ مَعَ الْمَرِيضِ، يَقُولُونَ: لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ مِثْلَ الصَّحِيحِ فَنَزَلَتْ وَلا عَلَى المريض حرج يعني وليس مَنْ أَكَلَ مَعَ الْمَرِيضِ حَرَجٌ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى وَلا عَلَى أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَنْ تَأْكُلُوا مِنْ بُيُوتِكُمْ.. إلى.. بيوت إخوانكم

١٤٨٦٩ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الطِّهْرَانِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنْبَأَ مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لَيْسَ عَلَى الأَعْمَى حَرَجٌ الآيَةَ، قَالَ: كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَذْهَبُ بِالأَعْمَى أَوِ الأَعْرَجِ أَوِ الْمَرِيضِ إِلَى بَيْتِ أَبِيهِ أَوْ بَيْتِ أَخِيهِ أَوْ بَيْتِ أُخْتِهِ أَوْ بَيْتِ عَمَّتِهِ أَوْ بَيْتِ خَالَتِهِ، فَكَانَ الزَّمْنَى يَتَحَرَّجُونَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ يَقُولُونَ: إِنَّمَا يَذْهَبُونَ بِنَا إِلَى بُيُوتِ غَيْرِهِمْ، فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ رُخْصَةً لَهُمْ.

١٤٨٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «١» قوله: ولا على أنفسكم أن تأكلوا من بُيُوتِكُمْ أَوْ بُيُوتِ آبَائِكُمْ قَالَ: كَانَ رِجَالٌ زمنى عميان عرجاء أولى حَاجَةٍ يَسْتَتْبِعُهُمْ رِجَالٌ إِلَى بُيُوتِهِمْ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُمْ طَعَامًا ذَهَبُوا إِلَى آبَائِهِمْ وَمَنْ عُدَّ مَعَهُمْ مِنَ الْبُيُوتِ، فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ الْمُسْتَتَبَعُونَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فِي ذَلِكَ (لَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ) وأحل لهم الطعام حيث وجدوه.
