14952 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid reported to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, Sa'id reported to us from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Blessed is He who sent down the Furqan upon His servant." He says: The Furqan contains the lawful and unlawful of Allah, His ordinances, and His religion; it distinguished between truth and falsehood.
His saying, the Almighty: "upon His servant."
14953 - Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu Kurayb reported to us, Yunus ibn Bukayr reported to us, Ibn Ishaq said: "upon His servant," meaning Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
His saying, the Almighty: "that he may be to the worlds a warner."
14954 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn Khalid reported to us, al-Walid reported to us, al-Furat ibn al-Walid reported to us from Mughith ibn Sumayy, from Tubay' who said: The "worlds" (al-'alamin) consist of one thousand nations, six hundred in the sea and four hundred on land.
14955 - My father narrated to us, Abu Ghassan Malik ibn Isma'il reported to us, Qays reported to us from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "to the worlds," he said: The jinn and mankind.
14956 - al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Musa ibn Muhallim reported to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi reported to us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur reported to us from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "to the worlds," he said: All people.
His saying, the Almighty: "a warner."
14957 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid reported to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "that he may be to the worlds a warner," he said: Allah sent Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, as a warner against the Fire, and he warns of the punishment of Allah and His visitations upon those who passed before you.
14958 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj reported to us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "that he may be to the worlds a warner," he said: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is the warner. And he recited: "And there was no nation but that there had passed within it a warner" (1), and he recited: "And We never destroyed any city except that it had warners" (2). He said: The messengers of the warners are the messengers. He said: There was one warner who reached what is between the East and the West, Dhu al-Qarnayn; he reached the two barriers, and he was a warner, though I have not heard in truth that he was a prophet.
