the sustenance of the carrier and the carried; both of them, You carry and provide sustenance. When You brought him out at his appointed time, You commanded the limbs, and they gathered; You commanded the veins, and they intertwined. You created for him pure milk from Your bounty, and You made it a provision for Your creation which You have created. Then You prepared for him, by Your bounty, sustenance that nourishes him according to Your will. Then You admonished him through Your Book, then You decreed death upon him inevitably, then You shall restore him just as You began him.
His saying, the Almighty: "And He has measured it with a [precise] measurement."
14963 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray', Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And He created everything and has measured it with a [precise] measurement," [meaning] of His creation and its state of soundness; He made that with a known measure.
His saying, the Almighty: "Yet they have taken besides Him gods."
14964 - By the same chain, from Qatadah: "Yet they have taken besides Him gods," and these are those idols which are worshipped besides Allah, the Almighty and Majestic.
His saying, the Almighty: "They do not create anything, while they are created."
14965 - And by it, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "They do not create anything, while they are created," and He is Allah, the Creator, the Provider. These idols which are worshipped besides Allah are created and do not create anything.
His saying, the Almighty: "And they possess not for themselves any harm or benefit."
14966 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah reported to us, Shibl reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "Harm or benefit," regarding "harm," he said: "Misguidance."
His saying, the Almighty: "And they possess not death nor life."
14967 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And they possess not death nor life," and they are these idols which are worshipped besides Allah; they do not harm or benefit, and they possess not death nor life. And in His saying: "nor resurrection," meaning: nor rising [from the dead].
His saying, the Almighty: "And those who disbelieved said."
14968 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn al-Hisinjani narrated to us, Abu al-Jamahir reported to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir reported to us, from Qatadah, meaning His saying: "And those who disbelieved said," he said: This is the statement of the polytheists of the Arabs.
رِزْقَ الْحَامِلِ وَالْمَحْمُولِ كِلاهُمَا أَنْتَ تَحْمِلُ وَتَرْزُقُ فَلَمَّا أَخْرَجْتَهُ لِمُدَّتِهِ أَمَرْتَ الأَرْكَانَ فَتَجَلَّبَتْ وَأَمَرْتَ الْعُرُوقَ فَتَشَبَّكَتْ وَخَلَقْتَ لَهُ لَبَنًا صَافِيًا مِنْ فَضْلِكَ وَجَعَلْتَهُ لِخَلْقِكَ الَّذِي خَلَقْتَ رِزْقًا ثُمَّ هَيَّأْتَ لَهُ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ رِزْقًا يَقُوتُهُ عَلَى مَشِيئَتِكَ ثُمَّ وَعَظْتَهُ بِكِتَابِكَ ثُمَّ قَضَيتَ عَلَيْهِ الْمَوْتَ لَا مَحَالَةَ ثُمَّ أَنْتَ تُعِيدُهُ كَمَا بَدَأْتَهُ.
قوله تعالى: فَقَدَّرَهُ تَقْدِيرًا
١٤٩٦٣ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ فَقَدَّرَهُ تَقْدِيرًا مِنْ خَلْقِهِ وَصَلاحِهِ وَجَعَلَ ذَلِكَ بِقَدْرٍ مَعْلُومٍ.
قوله تعالى: وَاتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِهِ آلِهَةً
١٤٩٦٤ - بِهِ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ: وَاتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِهِ آلِهَةً وَهِيَ هَذِهِ الأَوْثَانُ الَّتِي تُعْبَدُ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: لَا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْئًا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ
١٤٩٦٥ - وَبِهِ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: لَا يَخْلُقُونَ شَيْئًا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ وَهُوَ اللَّهُ الْخَالِقُ الرَّازِقُ وَهَذِهِ الأَوْثَانُ الَّتِي تُعْبَدُ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ تُخْلَقُ وَلا تَخْلُقُ شَيْئًا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلا يَمْلِكُونَ لأَنْفُسِهِمْ ضَرًّا وَلا نَفْعًا
١٤٩٦٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ، ثنا شِبْلٌ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ: ضَرًّا وَلا نَفْعًا ضَرًّا قَالَ: ضَلالَةً.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلا يَمْلِكُونَ مَوْتًا وَلا حَيَاةً
١٤٩٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَلا يَمْلِكُونَ مَوْتًا وَلا حَيَاةً وَهِيَ هَذِهِ الأَوْثَانُ الَّتِي تُعْبَدُ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ لَا تَضُرُّ وَلا تَنْفَعُ وَلا تَمْلِكُ مَوْتًا وَلا حَيَاةً وَفِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلا نُشُورًا أَيْ: وَلا بَعْثًا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا
١٤٩٦٨ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْهِسِنْجَانِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ يَعْنِي قوله: وقال الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا قَالَ: هَذَا قَوْلُ مُشْرِكِي الْعَرَبِ.
