15021 - My father narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Musa reported to us, Hisham ibn Yusuf informed us, from Ibn Jurayj, from 'Ata', from Ibn 'Abbas regarding: "It was, upon your Lord, a promise requested," he says: "Ask for that which I have promised you—or he said: 'which We promised you'—so that you may receive it."
15022 - It was read to Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la, Ibn Wahb informed us, 'Amr ibn al-Harith told me, Sa'id ibn Abi Hilal narrated to me that he heard al-Qurazi saying regarding the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He): "It was, upon your Lord, a promise requested," that: "The angels ask on their behalf in their saying: 'And admit them into gardens of perpetual residence which You have promised them.'" Sa'id said: "And I heard Abu Hazim saying: 'When the Day of Resurrection arrives, the believers will say: "Our Lord, we worked for You according to what You commanded us, so fulfill for us what You promised us." That is His saying: "a promise requested.""
15023 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He): "It was, upon your Lord, a promise requested," he said: "They asked Him for it in the worldly life; they sought that, and He gave them their promise when they asked Him. And He timed the provisions of the servants on earth before He created them, and He made them as nourishment for those who ask, and He timed that according to their requests." And he recited therein: "He determined therein its food in four days, equal for those who ask."
His saying, the Almighty: "And the day We will gather them."
15024 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn Khalid reported to us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq reported to us, Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "The day," he said: "The Day of Resurrection."
15025 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Ibn Numayr reported to us, from Hanzalah al-Qass, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: "Everything will be gathered, to the extent that even the fly will be gathered."
15026 - 'Amr al-Awdi narrated to us, Waki' reported to us, from al-A'mash, who said: "I heard them mentioning from Mujahid regarding: 'The day We will gather them,' he said: 'The gathering of the dead.'"
