His saying, the Almighty: "And they were a ruined people."

15033 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih reported to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Ruined (bura)," he says: "Perished."

15034 - My father narrated to us, Abu Rabi'ah Zayd ibn 'Awn reported to us, 'Awf ibn Musa reported to us, Farqad al-Sabakhi reported to us, from Shahr ibn Hawshab regarding His saying: "And they were a ruined people," he said: "Its meaning is: you have corrupted."

15035 - My father narrated to us, Abu al-Jumahir reported to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir reported to us, from Qatadah: "And they were a ruined people," he said: "It is corruption (al-fasad)."

15036 - My father narrated to us, Abu al-Jumahir informed us, Sa'id reported to us, Suwayd narrated to me, from Qatadah: "'Al-bur' in the dialect of 'Uman [means corruption]."

15037 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And they were a ruined people," and "al-bur": "is the corrupt one; and by Allah, no people ever forgot the remembrance (dhikr) of Allah but that they perished (baru) and became corrupt."

15038 - Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani informed me in what he wrote to me, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "You were a ruined people," he said: "They are those in whom there is no good."

His saying, the Almighty: "So they will deny you regarding what you say."

15039 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "So they will deny you regarding what you say." Allah says to those who used to worship 'Isa (Jesus), 'Uzayr (Ezra), and the angels, when they said: "Exalted are You! You are our ally, not them," Allah says: "So they will deny you regarding what you say," 'Isa, 'Uzayr, and the angels [will deny them] when they punish, or he said: "when they deny the polytheists."

15040 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed me in what he wrote to me, Asbagh reported to us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "So they will deny you regarding what you say," he said: "They denied you regarding what came from Allah; the prophets brought it, the believers believed in it, and these [polytheists] denied it."
