The saying of the Exalted: "And the day the heaven will be split asunder"

15086 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "The Day," he said: The Day of Resurrection.

15087 - Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, ‘Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Shaybah reported to us, Marwan ibn Mu‘awiyah reported to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak: "And the day the heaven will be split asunder with the clouds," he said: It is the rupturing of the heaven when it splits.

15088 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Hatim al-Harawi reported to us, al-Hajjaj informed us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid: "The heaven with the clouds," he said: It is that which is in shadows of clouds; Allah will come within it on the Day of Resurrection, and it was never for anyone except the Children of Israel.

15089 - Muhammad ibn ‘Ammar ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Mu'ammal reported to us, Hammad ibn Salamah reported to us, from ‘Ali ibn Zayd, from Yusuf ibn Mihran, from Ibn ‘Abbas, that he recited this verse: "And the day the heaven will be split asunder with the clouds, and the angels will be sent down with a successive descent." Ibn ‘Abbas said: Allah will gather the creation on the Day of Resurrection upon a single plain: the Jinn, mankind, the beasts, the predatory animals, the birds, and all of creation. The lowest heaven will split, and its inhabitants will descend, and they are more numerous than the Jinn, mankind, and all of creation. They will surround the Jinn, mankind, and all of creation. Then the second heaven will split, and its inhabitants will descend, and they are more numerous than the inhabitants of the lowest heaven, the Jinn, mankind, and all of creation. They will surround the angels who descended before them, as well as the Jinn, mankind, and all of creation. Then the third heaven will split, and its inhabitants will descend, and they are more numerous than the inhabitants of the second heaven, the lowest heaven, and all of creation. They will surround the angels who descended before them, as well as the Jinn, mankind, and all of creation. Then every heaven will do likewise until the seventh heaven splits, and they are more numerous than those who descended before them from the inhabitants of the heavens, the Jinn, mankind, and all of creation. They will surround the angels who descended before them, as well as the Jinn, mankind, and all of creation. Our Lord, Mighty and Majestic is He, will be in shadows of clouds, and around Him are the Cherubim. They are more numerous than the inhabitants of the seven heavens, the Jinn, mankind, and all of creation. They have horns like the stems of lances, and they are beneath the Throne, having a resonant clamor of glorification, declaration of oneness, and sanctification for Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.
