15200 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih reported to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding: "Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire?" He said: "That is the disbeliever who took his god without guidance from Allah or any proof, and Allah let him go astray upon knowledge." He means: He let him go astray in His previous knowledge.
15201 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Waki' reported to us, Mubarak reported to us, from al-Hasan regarding: "Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire?" He said: "He does not desire anything but that he follows it."
15202 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Musa reported to us, Ibn Abi Za'idah informed us, Ibn al-Mubarak informed us, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire?" He said: "That is the hypocrite who set up his own desire, so whatever he desires, he pursues it."
15203 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray', Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire?" He said: "By Allah, every time he desires a thing, he pursues it, and every time he craves a thing, he carries it out, neither piety nor righteousness holding him back from that."
His saying, the Exalted: "Then, would you be responsible for him?"
15204 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, 'Abd al-A'la ibn Jihad al-Narsi informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "responsible (wakilan)," he said: "A protector."
His saying, the Exalted: "Or do you think that most of them hear or reason?"
15205 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih reported to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: "They do not hear the guidance, nor do they see it, nor do they reason it."
15206 - And he also mentioned the hadith of Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him): "Hearts are four: a wrapped heart, and that is the heart of the disbeliever"—the hadith to its end, and it has already preceded.
His saying, the Exalted: "They are only like livestock."
15207 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us, in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my paternal uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: "The likeness of those who disbelieve is the likeness of a camel, a donkey, or a sheep. If you said to some of them, 'Eat,' he would not know what you are saying other than that he hears your voice. Likewise, the disbeliever, if you command him with good, or forbid him from evil, and advise him, he does not reason what you are saying other than that he hears your voice."
١٥٢٠٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: أَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَهَهُ هَوَاهُ قَالَ: ذَلِكَ الْكَافِرُ اتَّخَذَ إِلَهَهُ بِغَيْرِ هُدًى مِنَ اللَّهِ وَلا بُرْهَانٍ وَأَضَلَّهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى عِلْمٍ يَقُولُ: أَضَلَّهُ فِي سَابِقِ عِلْمِهِ.
١٥٢٠١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا وَكِيعٌ، ثنا مُبَارَكٌ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ: أَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَهَهُ هَوَاهُ قَالَ: لَا يَهْوَى شَيْئًا إِلا إتَّبَعَهُ.
١٥٢٠٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى أنبأ ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ أنبأ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: أَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَهَهُ هَوَاهُ قَالَ: ذَلِكَ الْمُنَافِقُ نَصَبَ هَوَاهُ فَمَا هَوَى مِنْ شَيْءٍ رَكِبَهُ.
١٥٢٠٣ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: أَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَهَهُ هَوَاهُ وَاللَّهِ لَكُلَّمَا هَوِيَ شَيْئًا رَكِبَهُ وَكُلَّمَا اشْتَهَى شَيْئًا أَتَاهُ لَا يَحْجِزُهُ، عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَرَعٌ وَلا تَقْوَى.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: أَفَأَنْتَ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِ وَكِيلا
١٥٢٠٤ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بن جهاد النرسي، ثنا يزيد ابْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَكِيلا قَالَ: نَاصِرًا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: أَمْ تَحْسَبُ أَنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَسْمَعُونَ أَوْ يَعْقِلُونَ
١٥٢٠٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: لَا يَسْمَعُونَ الْهُدَى وَلا يُبْصِرُونَهُ وَلا يَعْقِلُونَهُ.
١٥٢٠٦ - وَذَكَرَ أَيْضًا حَدِيثَ سَلْمَانَ الْفَارِسِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: الْقُلُوبُ أَرْبَعَةٌ قَلْبٌ أَغْلَفُ فَذَلِكَ قَلْبُ الْكَافِرِ
- الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى آخِرِهِ وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنْ هُمْ إِلا كَالأَنْعَامِ
١٥٢٠٧ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْعَوْفِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا كَمَثَلِ الْبَعِيرِ وَالْحِمَارِ وَالشَّاةِ إِنْ قُلْتَ لِبَعْضِهِمْ كُلْ لَمْ يَعْلَمْ مَا تَقُولُ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ يَسْمَعُ صَوْتَكَ كَذَلِكَ الْكَافِرُ إِنْ أَمَرْتَهُ بِخَيْرٍ أَوْ نَهَيْتَهُ، عَنْ شَرٍّ وَوَعَظْتَهُ لَمْ يَعْقِلْ مَا تَقُولُ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ يَسْمَعُ صَوْتَكَ.
