His saying, the Exalted: "To give life thereby to a dead land."

15244 - My father narrated to us, Ali ibn Ja'far al-Ahmar reported to us, Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Asbahani reported to us, from his uncle Abd al-Rahman, from 'Ikrimah, who said: "Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, has never sent down a drop of rain from the sky without there being a sprout on the earth or a pearl in the sea because of it."

15245 - My father narrated to us, Abu al-Ash'ath reported to us, Mu'tamir reported to us, saying: I heard my father narrating from Sayyar, from Khalid ibn Yazid, who said: "I was in the presence of Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, and they mentioned water. Khalid ibn Yazid said: 'Part of it comes from the sky, and part of it is what the clouds draw from the sea, which thunder and lightning make sweet. As for that which comes from the sea, it does not produce vegetation, while vegetation comes from that which is from the sky.'"

His saying, the Exalted: "And We give it as drink to many cattle and people that We have created."

15246 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "Cattle," he said: "The grazing livestock."

His saying, the Exalted: "And We have distributed it among them so that they may remember."

15247 - Ali ibn al-Hasan al-Hisinjani narrated to us, Musaddad reported to us, Mu'tamir reported to us, from his father, who said: I heard al-Hasan ibn Muslim narrating to Tawus, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, that he said: "There is no year that has more rain than another, but Allah distributes it among His servants." And he recited: "And We have distributed it among them."

15248 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu Usamah reported to us, from Nadr ibn 'Arabi, from 'Ikrimah regarding "And We have distributed it among them," he said: "The rain waters this land and withholds from that land."

15249 - Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd ibn Kathir ibn al-Salt al-Madini reported to us in Medina, saying: I heard Ishaq ibn Ibrahim ibn Fustat saying, from 'Umar, the freed slave of Ghufras, who said: "Gabriel was in the place of the funerals, and the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to him: 'O Gabriel, I would like to know the matter of the clouds.' He said: Gabriel, peace be upon him, replied: 'O Prophet of Allah, this is the angel of the clouds,' and he asked him. He said: 'They come to us with sealed scrolls, [saying]: Water such-and-such a land with [so-and-so] many drops.'"
