15250 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, Sa'id informed us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And We have distributed it among them so that they may remember, but most of the people refuse except disbelief." He said: "Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, divided this provision among His servants and distributed it among them."

His saying, the Exalted: "So that they may remember"

15251 - My father narrated to us, Mahmud ibn Khalid and Abd al-Rahman ibn Ibrahim Duhaym reported to us, both saying: al-Walid reported to us, Ibn Jabir reported to us, saying: I asked 'Ata' al-Khurasani about the saying of Allah: "And We have distributed it among them so that they may remember." He said: "The Quran. Do you not see His saying therein: 'And if We had willed, We could have sent a warner into every city, so do not obey the disbelievers and strive against them with it with a great striving'?"

His saying, the Exalted: "But most of the people refuse except disbelief"

15252 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu Usamah reported to us, from Nadr ibn 'Arabi, from 'Ikrimah regarding "But most of the people refuse except disbelief," he said: "It was said to him: What is their disbelief? He said: They say: We were given rain by the stars (al-anwa'). So Allah revealed regarding the incident: 'And you make your provision that you deny.'"

His saying, the Exalted: "And if We had willed, We could have sent a warner into every city"

15253 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Into every city a warner," he said: "It has messengers."

His saying, the Exalted: "So do not obey the disbelievers and strive against them with it with a great striving"

15254 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed us, saying: I heard Ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "And strive against them with it with a great striving," he said: "He means Islam and the religion." And he recited: "And be harsh against them," and he recited: "And let them find harshness in you," and he said: "This is the great striving."

His saying, the Exalted: "And He is the one who has released the two seas"

15255 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Hani ibn Sa'id reported to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, who said: "Marj (releasing) is the sending of one upon the other."

15256 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "Released the two seas," he said: "He caused one to flow into the other."
