15257 - My father narrated to us, Abu al-Darda' 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Munib reported to us, Abu Mu'adh al-Fadl ibn Khalid reported to us, from 'Ubayd ibn Sulayman, from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "And He is the one who has released the two seas," he says: He let one flow over the other, so neither of them changes the taste of the other.

[His saying, the Exalted: The two seas]

[The first interpretation]

15258 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Ibn Yaman reported to us, from Ash'ath, from Ja'far, from Sa'id regarding: "Released the two seas," he said: The sea of the sky and the sea of the earth.

It was also narrated from 'Atiyyah and Mujahid that they said: A sea in the sky and a sea in the earth.

The second interpretation:

15259 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Ibn Yaman reported to us, from Sufyan, from a man, from al-Hasan regarding: "Released the two seas," he said: The sea of Persia and Byzantium (Rome).

His saying, the Exalted: "This is fresh, sweet, and this is salty, bitter"

15260 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid al-Bayruti informed us by way of recitation, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb ibn Shabur informed me, 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' informed me, from his father, from 'Ata': As for the "furat" (sweet), it is the fresh water. And regarding His saying: "and this is salty, bitter," as for the "ujaj," it is the salty water.

15261 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "and this is salty, bitter," meaning: bitter.

His saying, the Exalted: "And He placed between them a barrier"

[The first interpretation]

15262 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Ibn 'Atiyyah reported to us, from Abu Raja', from al-Hasan regarding: "And He placed between them a barrier," he said: It is the dry land.

15263 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, 'Uqbah narrated to me, from Isra'il, from Jabir, from Mujahid, who said: The barrier is the breadth of the world.

15264 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "a barrier," he said: A partition.

١٥٢٥٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُنِيبٍ، ثنا أَبُو مُعَاذٍ الْفَضْلَ بْنَ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ قَوْلُهُ: وَهُوَ الَّذِي مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ يَقُولُ خَلَعَ أَحَدَهُمَا عَلَى الآخَرِ فَلا يُغَيِّرُ أَحَدُهُمَا طَعْمَ الآخر.

١٥٢٥٨ - حدثنا أبو سعيد الأشجع، ثنا بْنُ يَمَانٍ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنِ سَعِيدِ: مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ قَالَ: بَحْرُ السَّمَاءِ وَبَحْرُ الأَرْضِ

وَرُوِِىِ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ وَمُجَاهِدٍ قَالا: بَحْرٌ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَبَحْرٌ فِي الأَرْضِ.

وَالْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:

١٥٢٥٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا ابْنُ يَمَانٍ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ: مَرَجَ الْبَحْرَيْنِ قَالَ: بَحْرُ فَارِسَ وَالرُّومِ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: هَذَا عَذْبٌ فُرَاتٌ وَهَذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌ

١٥٢٦٠ - أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مَزْيَدٍ الْبَيْرُوتِيُّ قِرَاءَةً أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ شَابُورَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ عَطَاءٍ: وأما الفرات فالماء العذاب وَفِي قَوْلِهِ: وَهَذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌ وَأَمَّا الأُجَاجُ: فَالْمَاءُ الْمَالِحُ.

١٥٢٦١ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَهَذَا مِلْحٌ أُجَاجٌ أَيْ مُرٌّ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخًا

١٥٢٦٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا ابْنُ عَطِيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ: وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَهُمَا برزخا قَالَ: هُوَ الْيُبْسُ.

١٥٢٦٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجُّ، ثنا حَدَّثَنِي عُقْبَةُ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ: الْبَرْزَخُ عَرْضُ الدُّنْيَا.

١٥٢٦٤ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «١» قَوْلُهُ: بَرْزَخًا قال: محبسا.
