13735 - From Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), regarding "Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us," he said: "They are the allies of Allah; they will pass over the Path (al-Sirat) at a speed faster than lightning, so it will not strike them. They will hear its rumbling, while the disbeliever remains trapped therein."
13736 - From al-Nu'man ibn Bashir: That 'Ali read: "Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us – they are from it far removed," and he said: "I am among them, 'Umar is among them, 'Uthman is among them, al-Zubayr is among them, Talhah is among them, and Sa'd and 'Abd al-Rahman are among them."
His saying, the Almighty: "They will not hear its rumbling."
13737 - From Abu 'Uthman al-Nahdi, regarding His saying: "They will not hear its rumbling," he said: "[It refers to] snakes on the Path that sting them; when they sting them, they will say: 'Hiss... hiss.'"
13748 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Abi Surayj narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Husayn ibn Abi Yazid al-Hamadani narrated to us, from Layth ibn Abi Sulaym, from the cousin of al-Nu'man ibn Bashir, who said: "I spent an evening with 'Ali, and he read: 'Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us – they are from it far removed.' He said: 'I am among them, 'Umar is among them, 'Uthman is among them, al-Zubayr is among them, Talhah is among them, and 'Abd al-Rahman is among them,' or he said: 'Sa'd is among them.' He said: 'Then the prayer was called, so he stood up—and I believe he was dragging his garment—while he was saying: "They will not hear its rumbling."'
His saying, the Almighty: "The greatest terror will not grieve them."
13749 - From Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "The greatest terror will not grieve them," [he said it] means the final blast [of the Trumpet].
13750 - From al-Hasan, regarding "The greatest terror will not grieve them," he said: "[It refers to] the departure of the servant when he is ordered to the Fire."
13751 - From al-Suddi, who said: "The Sijill (scroll) is an angel entrusted with the pages; when one dies, his book is handed to the Sijill, who rolls it up and lifts it until the Day of Resurrection."
