with anyone from His creation, nor did He associate anyone with Him in any of His affairs through His prevailing authority and His effective word, which He says to that which He wants to exist, "Be," and it is. So, He finished the creation of the heavens and the earth in six days.

15296 - Muhammad ibn Hammad informed us in what he wrote to me, Isma'il ibn 'Abd al-Karim reported to us, 'Abd al-Samad ibn Ma'qil informed us that he heard his uncle, Wahb ibn Munabbih, say: 'Uzayr said: You commanded the water so it froze in the middle of the air, and You created seven [heavens] from it and named them the heavens. Then You commanded the water to burst forth from the earth, and You commanded the earth to separate from the water, and it was so; thus, You named all of that the earths, and all of the water the seas.

15297 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith reported to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah reported to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "He created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days," he said: A day the extent of which is a thousand years.

15298 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn Khalid reported to us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq reported to us, from Ibn Abi 'Arubah, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Then He established Himself above the Throne," he said: The seventh day.

15299 - Yazid ibn Sinan al-Basri, a resident of Egypt, narrated to us, Yazid ibn Abi Hakim reported to us, al-Hakam ibn Aban reported to me, he said: I heard 'Ikrimah say: Indeed, Allah began the creation of the heavens and the earth and what is between them on Sunday, then He established Himself above the Throne on Friday in three hours. He created in one of those hours the suns, so that people would be inclined toward their Lord in supplication and petition, and He created in an hour the foul-smelling substance that falls upon the son of Adam when he dies, so that he may be buried.

15300 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad al-'Asqalani narrated to us, Adam reported to us, Abu Ja'far al-Razi reported to us, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas, from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding His saying: "Then He established Himself," he says: He rose above. Similar statements to that of Abu al-'Aliyah were narrated from al-Hasan and al-Rabi' ibn Anas.

15301 - My father narrated to us, Ja'far ibn Musafir reported to us, Zayd ibn al-Mubarak al-San'ani reported to us, Salam ibn Wahb al-Janadi reported to us, my father reported to us, from Tawus, from Ibn 'Abbas, that 'Uthman ibn 'Affan asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) about "The Most Merciful" (al-Rahman), and he said: It is a name from among the names of Allah, and there is nothing between it and the Greatest Name of Allah except as there is between the blackness of the eyes and their whiteness in terms of closeness.
