15326 - Yunus ibn Habib narrated to us, Abu Dawud reported to us, Abu al-Ashhab reported to us, saying: I heard al-Hasan saying regarding the verse "[He] has made the night and the day as alternating," he said: "Whoever is unable [to act] by night, there is an opportunity for him by day, and whoever is unable [to act] by day, there is an opportunity for him by night."
15327 - Abu ‘Abd Allah al-Tahrani narrated to me, Hafs ibn ‘Umar reported to me, al-Hakam ibn Aban reported to us, from ‘Ikrimah, regarding His saying: "...alternating for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude," he said: "Take from your night, for if you miss it from your day, then [take it] from your night."
15328 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Abu Ahmad reported to us, from Sufyan, from ‘Amr ibn Qays al-Masir, he said: I heard Mujahid saying regarding His saying: "And it is He who has made the night and the day as alternating," he said: "This one alternates with that one, and this one alternates with that one."
15329 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us, in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj reported to us, he said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the saying of Allah: "And it is He who has made the night and the day as alternating"—the whole verse. He said: "Had He not created it as alternating, no one would know how to act. If all time were night, how would anyone know how to fast? Or if all time were day, how would anyone know how to pray?" He said: "'Khilfah' (alternating) means they follow each other; this one departs and this one comes. He made them alternating for His servants," and he recited: "...for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude."
His saying, the Almighty: "For whoever desires to remember"
15330 - al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Harawi reported to us, Hajjaj reported to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid: that "to remember" means as a sign for him.
15331 - My father narrated to us, al-Mu‘alla ibn Asad reported to us, Muhammad ibn Sawa’ reported to us, Juwaybir reported to us, from al-Dahhak: "for whoever desires to remember," he said: "He takes heed."
His saying, the Almighty: "Or desires gratitude"
15332 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa’ reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "Or desires gratitude," he said: "He thanks the blessing of his Lord upon him therein."

١٥٣٢٦ - حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا أَبُو الأَشْهَبِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يَقُولُ: جَعَلَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ خِلْفَةً الآيَةَ قَالَ: مَنْ عَجَزَ بِاللَّيْلِ كَانَ لَهُ فِي النَّهَارِ مُسْتَعْتَبٌ وَمَنْ عَجَزَ بِالنَّهَارِ كَانَ لَهُ فِي اللَّيْلِ مُسْتَعْتَبٌ.
١٥٣٢٧ - حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الطِّهْرَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ثنا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ: خِلْفَةً لِمَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَذَّكَّرَ أَوْ أَرَادَ شُكُورًا قَالَ: خُذْ مِنْ لَيْلِكَ فَإِنْ فَاتَكَ مِنْ نَهَارِكَ فَمِنْ لَيْلِكَ.
١٥٣٢٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ، ثنا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْمَاصِرِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُجَاهِدًا يَقُولُ: فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ خِلْفَةً قَالَ: هَذَا يَخْلُفُ ذَا وَهَذَا يَخْلُفُ ذَا.
١٥٣٢٩ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ ثنا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: وَهُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ خِلْفَةً الآيَةَ كُلَّهَا. قَالَ: لَوْ لَمْ يَخْلُقْهُ خِلْفَةً لَمْ يَدْرِ أَحَدٌ كَيْفَ يَعْمَلُ لَوْ كَانَ الدَّهْرُ كُلُّهُ لَيْلا كَيْفَ يَدْرِي أَحَدٌ كَيْفَ يَصُومُ أَوْ كَانَ الدَّهْرُ نَهَارًا كُلُّهُ كَيْفَ يَدْرِي أَحَدٌ كَيْفَ يُصَلِّي قَالَ: وَالْخِلْفَةُ يَخْلُفَانِ يَذْهَبُ هَذَا وَيَأْتِي هَذَا جَعَلَهُمَا خِلْفَةً لِعِبَادِهِ وَقَرَأَ: لِمَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَذَّكَّرَ أَوْ أَرَادَ شكورا
قوله تعالى: لِمَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَذَّكَّرَ
١٥٣٣٠ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْهَرَوِيُّ، ثنا حَجَّاجٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ: أَنَّ يَذَّكَّرَ آيَةً. لَهُ.
١٥٣٣١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا الْمُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَوَاءٍ، ثنا جُوَيْبِرٌ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ: لِمَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَذَّكَّرَ قَالَ يَتَّعِظُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: أَوْ أَرَادَ شُكُورًا
١٥٣٣٢ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «١» قوله: أَوْ أَرَادَ شُكُورًا شكر نعمة ربه عليه فيها.
