15387 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Salam reported to us, Mughirah reported to us, from Ibrahim, regarding "And are not stingy," he said: "He does not leave them hungry, nor does he leave them unclothed."

15388 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, ‘Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah reported to us, Mu‘awiyah ibn Hisham reported to us, from Sufyan, from al-A‘mash, regarding His saying: "And are not stingy," he said: "They do not fall short of the truth."

15389 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed us, he said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd: "And are not stingy," meaning they do not hold back from the obedience of Allah. And whatever is withheld from the obedience of Allah, even if it is much, it is stinginess (iqtar).

His saying, the Exalted: "And is ever, between that, justly moderate."

15390 - My father narrated to us, Yahya ibn ‘Uthman ibn Sa‘id ibn Kathir ibn Dinar reported to us, Rawwad reported to us, from al-Mas‘udi, from Qatadah, from Mutarrif ibn al-Shikhkhir, he said: "Knowledge is better than action, and the best of affairs are those that are moderate. And the good deed is between two bad deeds. This is because Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: 'And those who, when they spend, are not extravagant'—he says: a bad deed—'and are not stingy'—he says: a bad deed—'and is ever, between that, justly moderate'—he says: a good deed."

15391 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih the scribe of al-Layth reported to us, al-Layth narrated to me, Ibrahim ibn Nashit narrated to me, he said: I asked ‘Umar, the mawla of Ghufrah, I said to him: "What is the moderate path (qawam)?" He said: "The moderate path is that you do not spend on anything other than what is right, and you do not withhold any right that is incumbent upon you."

15392 - My father narrated to us, Bishr ibn Adam, son of the daughter of Azhar ibn Sa‘d, reported to us, Abu ‘Asim reported to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Sulayman, from Wahb ibn Munabbih: "And is ever, between that, justly moderate," he said: "The portion of their wealth."

15393 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, ‘Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah reported to us, Mu‘awiyah ibn Hisham reported to us, from Sufyan, from al-A‘mash, regarding His saying: "And is ever, between that, justly moderate," he said: "Just/Equitable."

15394 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray‘ reported to us, Sa‘id reported to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And is ever, between that, justly moderate," he said: "Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has assigned you a provision, so abide by the provision of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic."
