15395 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj informed us, he said: I heard Ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "And is ever, between that, justly moderate," and the moderate path (qawam) between that is that you spend in the obedience of Allah and withhold from the forbidden things of Allah.

His saying, the Exalted: "And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity"

15396 - Ahmad ibn Sinan al-Wasiti narrated to us, ‘Abd Allah ibn Numayr reported to us, al-A‘mash informed us, from Shaqiq ibn Salamah, from ‘Amr ibn Shurahbil, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Mas‘ud, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was asked about the major sins. He said: "To set up a rival to Allah while He created you, to kill your child for fear that he might eat with you, and to commit adultery with your neighbor's wife." Then he recited: "And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity, and do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right, and do not commit adultery."

15397 - Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Malik ibn Zanjuyah narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq reported to us, Ma‘mar informed us, from Mansur, from Abu Wa’il, from ‘Amr ibn Shurahbil, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Mas‘ud, he said: I said, O Messenger of Allah—or someone else said it—: "Which sin is greatest before Allah?" He said: "To set up a rival to Allah while He created you." He said: "Then what?" He said: "To kill your child for fear that he might eat with you." He said: "Then what?" He said: "To commit adultery with your neighbor's wife." He said: So Allah revealed the confirmation of that in His Book: "And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity," the verse.

15398 - My father narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah al-Za‘farani reported to us, Hajjaj reported to us, from Muhammad, from Ibn Jurayj, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, that he heard him narrating from Ibn ‘Abbas that some people among the polytheists had killed and killed excessively, and committed adultery and committed it excessively. Then they came to Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: "Indeed, what you say and call to is good, if you would inform us that there is an expiation for what we have done." So it was revealed: "And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity, and do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right, and do not commit adultery." And there was also revealed: "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves..."

15399 - My father narrated to us, Abu ‘Umar reported to us, Sufyan reported to us, from ‘Amr, from Abu Fakhitah, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to a man: "Indeed, Allah forbids you to worship the created and leave the Creator, and He forbids you to kill your child and to incite your dog, and He forbids you to commit adultery with your neighbor's wife." Sufyan said: And it is His saying: "And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity."
