15440 - Abu Salamah reported to us, Hammad ibn Salamah reported to us, from 'Ali ibn Zayd, from 'Ali ibn al-Husayn regarding: "Allah will replace their evil deeds with good deeds," he said: It is in the Hereafter.
15441 - Muhammad ibn al-Wazir al-Dimashqi reported to us, al-Walid reported to us, Sa'id ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz reported to us, from Makhul, and he recited: "then those—Allah will replace their evil deeds with good deeds," he said: He forgives them and transforms them into good deeds.
15442 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ziyad reported to us, Sayyar reported to us, Ja'far reported to us, Abu Hamzah reported to us, from Abu al-Dayf—who was one of the companions of Mu'adh ibn Jabal—he said: The people of Paradise will enter Paradise in four categories: the God-fearing, then the grateful, then the fearful, then the companions of the right. I said: Why were they called the companions of the right? He said: Because they performed good deeds and evil deeds, so they were given their books in their right hands, and they read their evil deeds letter by letter. They said: O our Lord, these are our evil deeds, so where are our good deeds? At that point, Allah erased the evil deeds and replaced them with good deeds. At that point, they said: "Here, read my book!" They are the people of Paradise.
His saying, the Exalted: "And Allah is Ever Forgiving, Merciful." The interpretation of "Ever" has been mentioned more than once in this Surah.

15443 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn al-Mundhir reported to us, 'Isa ibn Shu'ayb ibn Thawban reported to us, from Fulayj al-Shammaas, from 'Ubayd, from his father 'Ubayd, from Abu Hurayrah, he said: A woman came to me and said: Is there any repentance for me? I have committed adultery, given birth, and killed [the child]. I said: No. Neither may the eye be comforted, nor is there any honor. She stood up, calling out in anguish. Then I prayed the morning prayer with the Prophet (peace be upon him), and I recounted to him what the woman said and what I said to her. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: How evil is what you have said! Do you not read this verse: "And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity..." up to His saying: "...except for those who repent, believe, and do righteous work; for them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good deeds. And ever is Allah Forgiving, Merciful." So I recited it to her, and she fell down prostrating and said: Praise be to Allah who has provided me with an exit.
15444 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Wazir ibn al-Hakam al-Sulami al-Dimashqi reported to us, al-Walid ibn Muslim reported to us, Ibn Jabir reported to us that he heard Makhul narrating, he said: An old, aged man came, his eyebrows having fallen over his eyes, and said: O Messenger of Allah, a man who has acted treacherously and immorally—he left no minor or major sin but that he committed it with his own hand; if his sins were divided among the people of the earth, they would destroy them—is there any repentance for him? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Have you embraced Islam? He said: As for me, I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Then Allah will forgive you for what you were like, and will replace your evil deeds with good deeds. He said: O Messenger of Allah, and my acts of treachery and immorality? He said: And your acts of treachery and immorality. He said: So the man turned away, pronouncing the greatness and oneness of Allah.
