15479 - al-Mundhir ibn Shadhan narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Ishaq reported to us, Abu al-Ashhab reported to us, he said: al-Hasan said regarding His saying: "And those who, when they are reminded of the verses of their Lord, do not fall upon them deaf and blind," he said: How many a man reads it and falls upon it deaf and blind.
15480 - Usayd ibn 'Asim narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Humran reported to us, Ibn 'Awn reported to us, he said: I asked al-Sha'bi, saying: A man sees the people prostrating and he has not heard what they prostrated for, should he prostrate with them? He said: Then he recited this verse: "And those who, when they are reminded of the verses of their Lord, do not fall upon them deaf and blind."
15481 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj reported to us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "And those who, when they are reminded of the verses of their Lord, do not fall upon them deaf and blind," he said: This is a parable that Allah struck for them; they did not leave it for another. And he recited: "The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts..." [up to the end of the] verse.
His saying, the Exalted: "And those who say, 'Our Lord, grant us from among our wives...'" [up to the end of the] verse.
15482 - My father narrated to us, Nu'aym ibn Hammad and 'Abdah ibn Sulayman reported to us, they said: Ibn al-Mubarak reported to us, Safwan ibn 'Amr reported to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr informed me, from his father, he said: We sat with al-Miqdad ibn al-Aswad one day, and a man passed by him and said: Blessed are these two eyes that saw the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)! By Allah, we would have wished to see what you saw and witness what you witnessed. al-Miqdad became angered, and I began to marvel at his anger. I said: By Allah, he only said something good. Then he turned to him and said: What is the matter with a man who wishes for a situation he was absent from; if he had witnessed it, how would he have fared in it? By Allah, peoples were present with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) whom Allah will cast upon their noses into Hell; they did not respond to him and did not believe him. Do you not praise your Lord that He brought you forth when you knew only your Lord, confirming what your Prophet came with? You have been spared the affliction. By Allah, your Prophet was sent at the most difficult time any of the Prophets were sent, in an interval and a period of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah), when they did not consider any religion better than the worship of idols. So he came with the Furqan (the Criterion) which distinguished between truth and falsehood, and which separated a father from his son, to the extent that a man would see his father, his son, or his brother as a disbeliever, and Allah had opened the lock of his heart to faith. So he knows that if he perishes, he will enter the Fire, and his eye does not find comfort while he knows that his loved one is in the Fire. And this is that which Allah said: "And those who say, 'Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and our offspring comfort to our eyes.'"
١٥٤٧٩ - حَدَّثَنَا الْمُنْذِرُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا أَبُو الأَشْهَبِ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ فِي قوله: والذين إذا ذكروا بآيات ربهم لم يَخِرُّوا عَلَيْهَا صُمًّا وَعُمْيَانًا قَالَ كَمْ مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَقْرَأهُ وَيَخِرُّ عَلَيْهَا أصم أعمى.
١٥٤٨٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أُسَيْدُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ حُمْرَانَ، ثنا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ قَالَ:
سَأَلْتُ الشَّعْبِيَّ قُلْتُ: الرَّجُلُ يَرَى الْقَوْمَ سَجَدُوا وَلَمْ يَسْمَعْ مَا سَجَدُوا أَيَسْجُدُ مَعَهُمْ؟
قَالَ: فَتَلا هَذِهِ الآيَةَ: وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَمْ يَخِرُّوا عَلَيْهَا صُمًّا وَعُمْيَانًا
١٥٤٨١ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ أَنْبَأَ أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: وَالَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ لَمْ يَخِرُّوا عَلَيْهَا صُمًّا وَعُمْيَانًا قَالَ: هَذَا مَثَلٌ ضَرَبَهُ اللَّهُ لَهُمْ لَمْ يَدَعُوهَا إِلَى غَيْرِهَا، وَقَرَأَ: إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قلوبهم الْآيَةَ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا من أزواجنا الْآيَةُ.
١٥٤٨٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ وَعَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالا:، ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، ثنا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: جَلَسْنَا إِلَى الْمِقْدَادِ بْنِ الأَسْوَدِ يَوْمًا فَمَرَّ بِهِ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: طُوبَى لِهَاتَيْنِ الْعَيْنَيْنِ اللَّتَيْنِ رَأَتَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاللَّهِ لَوَدِدْنَا أَنَّا رَأَيْنَا مَا رَأَيْتَ وَشَهِدْنَا مَا شَهِدْتَ فَاسْتُغْضِبَ الْمِقْدَادُ فَجَعَلْتُ أَعْجَبُ مِنْ غَضَبِهِ. فَقُلْتُ: وَاللَّهِ مَا قَالَ إِلا خَيْرًا ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ:
مَا بَالُ الرَّجُلِ يَتَمَنَّى مَحْضِرًا غُيِّبَ عَنْهُ لَوْ شَهِدَهُ كَيْفَ يَكُونُ فِيهِ، وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ حَضَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْوَامٌ أَكَبَّهُمُ اللَّهُ عَلَى مَنَاخِرِهِمْ فِي جَهَنَّمَ لَمْ يُجِيبُوهُ وَلَمْ يُصَدِّقُوهُ أَوَلا تَحْمَدُونَ رَبَّكُمْ إِذْ أَخْرَجَكُمُ اللَّهُ لَا تَعْرِفُونَ إِلا رَبَّكُمْ مُصَدِّقِينَ بِمَا جَاءَ بِهِ نَبِيُّكُمْ فَقَدْ كُفِيتُمُ الْبَلاءَ وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ بُعِثَ نَبِيُّكُمْ عَلَى أَشَدِّ حَالٍ بُعِثَ عَلَيْهِ نَبِيٌّ مِنَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ فِي فَتْرَةٍ وَجَاهِلِيَّةٍ مَا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّ دَيْنًا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ عِبَادَةِ الأَوْثَانِ. فَجَاءَ بِفُرْقَانٍ فَرَّقَ بَيْنَ الْحَقِّ وَالْبَاطِلِ وَفَرَّقَ بَيْنَ الْوَالِدِ وَوَلَدِهِ حَتَّى إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَرَى وَالِدَهُ أَوْ وَلَدَهُ أَوْ أَخَاهُ كَافِرًا وَقَدْ فَتْحَ اللَّهُ قُفْلَ قَلْبِهِ لِلإِيمَانِ. فَيَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ إِنْ هَلَكَ دَخَلَ النَّارَ فَلا تَقَرُّ عَيْنُهُ وَهُوَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّ حَبِيبَهُ فِي النَّارِ وَإِنَّهَا لَلَّتِي قَالَ اللَّهُ: وَالَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ
