His saying: "And their necks remained bowed before it"
15533 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn 'Ammar reported to us, al-Walid reported to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding "And their necks remained bowed before it," [meaning] until no one turns toward disobedience.
15534 - Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani informed us in what he wrote to me, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah regarding "And their necks remained bowed before it," he said: If Allah had willed, He would have sent down to them a sign by which they would be humbled, so that none of them would turn his neck toward the disobedience of Allah.
His saying, Exalted is He: "Bowed"
15535 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed me, who said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding His saying, Exalted is He: "And their necks remained bowed before it," he said: The bowed one is the humiliated one.
His saying: "And there comes not to them any renewed remembrance from the Most Merciful except that they are from it turning away."
15536 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray', reported to us, Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding "And there comes not to them any renewed remembrance from the Most Merciful," he says: There does not come to them anything from the Book of Allah except that they were turning away from it, he says: except that they turned away from it. And regarding His saying: "But they have already denied, so there will come to them the news of what they used to ridicule," he means on the Day of Resurrection, he says: The news of what they used to ridicule of the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.
His saying: "Do they not look at the earth—how much We have produced therein from every noble pair?"

15537 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "from every noble pair," he said: From the plants of the earth, from that which people and livestock eat.
The Second View
15538 - My father narrated to us, Qabisah reported to us, Sufyan reported to us, from a man, from al-Sha'bi regarding His saying "how much We have produced therein from every noble pair," he said: People are from the plants of the earth; whoever enters Paradise is noble (karim) and whoever enters the Fire is base (la'im).
His saying: "Noble"
15539 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah reported to us, Ibn Lahi'ah informed me, 'Ata' informed me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "Noble," meaning beautiful (hasan). It was similarly narrated from Qatadah.
