Mujahid regarding His saying: "And I was of the misguided," he said: "Of the ignorant." It was also narrated from Ibn Abbas, Sa'id ibn Jubayr, and al-Thawri something similar.
15565 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And I was of the misguided," [meaning] "of the ignorant." He said: In some of the readings [it is] "I did it then, while I was of the ignorant," for it is merely a matter regarding which the Prophet of Allah - may Allah bless him and grant him peace - was ignorant, and he did not intend it.
15566 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa reported to us, Salamah reported to us, from Ibn Ishaq who said: "I did it then, while I was of the misguided," [meaning] a mistake, I did not intend that.
15567 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed me in what he wrote to me, Asbagh reported to us, who said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "I did it then, while I was of the misguided," before anything had come to me from Allah; my killing him was a straying and a mistake. He said: And "straying" here means error, and he did not say it was a straying [sin] between him and Allah, the Almighty and Majestic.
His saying: "So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me judgement and made me one of the messengers."
15568 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me judgement" — and the judgement is prophethood — "and made me one of the messengers."
His saying: "And is this a favor which you bestow upon me?"
15569 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa reported to us, Salamah reported to us, from Ibn Ishaq who said: Then Moses turned to him, rejecting what he mentioned of his kindness toward him, and said: "And is this a favor which you bestow upon me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"
15570 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And is this a favor which you bestow upon me?" He said: Moses is saying to Pharaoh: Do you reproach me, O Pharaoh, because you have taken slaves from the Children of Israel, while they were free, so you oppressed them and took them as slaves? His saying: "That you have enslaved the Children of Israel."
مُجَاهِدٍ قوله: وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ قَالَ: مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ وَرُوِيَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ وَالثَّوْرِيِّ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ.
١٥٥٦٥ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قتادة قوله: وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ أَيْ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ قَالَ وَفِي بَعْضِ الْقِرَاءَاتِ فعلتها إذا او انا مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ شَيْءٌ جَهِلَ فِيهِ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- وَلَمْ يَتَعَمَّدْهُ.
١٥٥٦٦ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، ثنا سَلَمَةُ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: فَعَلْتُهَا إِذًا وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ أَيْ خَطَأٌ لَا أُرِيدُ ذَلِكَ.
١٥٥٦٧ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَصْبَغُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ فَعَلْتُهَا إِذًا وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْءٌ كَانَ قَتْلِي إِيَّاهُ ضَلالَةً وَخَطَأً قَالَ: وَالضَّلالَةُ هَاهُنَا الْخَطَأُ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ ضَلالَةً فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.
قَوْلُهُ: فَفَرَرْتُ مِنْكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ المرسلين
١٥٥٦٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ فَفَرَرْتُ مِنْكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكْمًا وَالْحُكْمُ النُّبُوَّةُ وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ.
قَوْلُهُ: وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ
١٥٥٦٩ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، ثنا سَلَمَةُ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِ مُوسَى يُنْكِرُ عَلَيْهِ مَا ذَكَرَ مِنْ يَدِهِ عِنْدَهُ فَقَالَ: وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنْ عَبَّدْتَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
١٥٥٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ قَالَ: يَقُولُ مُوسَى لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَتَمُنُّ عَلَيَّ يَا فِرْعَوْنُ بِأَنِ اتَّخَذْتَ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ عَبِيدًا وَكَانُوا أَحْرَارًا فَقَهَرْتَهُمْ وَاتَّخَذْتَهُمْ عَبِيدًا قَوْلُهُ: أَنْ عَبَّدْتَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ.
