His saying: "And We inspired to Moses, 'Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be followed.'"
15649 - Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Abi al-Thalj narrated to us, Yazid ibn Harun reported to us, Asbagh ibn Zayd informed us, al-Qasim ibn Abi Ayyub reported to us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: When Moses's stay was prolonged due to the false promises of Pharaoh, Moses was commanded to depart with his people, so he departed with them by night.
15650 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi: Then Allah commanded Moses to depart with the Children of Israel. He said: "So travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be followed." He says: [Take] the path as it is. Moses commanded the Children of Israel to depart, and commanded them to borrow jewelry from the Copts, and commanded that none of them call out to his companion, and that they keep their houses illuminated until morning, and that whoever went out should smear the front of his door with a palm of blood so that it would be known that he had departed. And Allah brought out every child of adultery among the Copts from the Children of Israel, and brought out every child of adultery among the Children of Israel from the Copts to the Copts, until they came to their fathers. Moses had promised the Children of Israel to travel with them when the moon rose, so he supplicated to his Lord to delay its rising until he had finished. When Moses traveled with the Children of Israel, Pharaoh proclaimed to the people: "Indeed, these are but a small band."
His saying (Exalted and Majestic is He): "And they pursued them at sunrise."
15652 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "at sunrise," he said: The companions of Moses went out by night, and the moon was eclipsed by night, and the earth became dark. The companions of Moses said: "Indeed, Joseph informed us that He would save us from Pharaoh, and he took a pledge from us that we would surely take his bones out with us." So Moses went out that night asking about his grave, and he found an old woman whose house was on his grave, and she brought it out to him on the condition that: "Carry me and take me out with you."
