15793 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah reported to us, Warqa' reported to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "the laden (al-mashhun) Ark," he said: The emptied-out, the filled one.

His saying: "Then We drowned the rest afterwards."

15794 - My father narrated to us, Nasr ibn 'Ali reported to us, Nu'h ibn Qays informed us, from 'Awf Abu Shaddad, who said: The water drowned the mountains and rose above them by eighty torrents. He also mentioned the hadith of the woman who had the child with her.

His saying, the Almighty: "'Ad denied the messengers."

15795 - My father narrated to us, Nasr ibn 'Ali reported to us, Abu Ahmad reported to us, from Abu Bakr ibn 'Asim ibn Bahdalah, from Abu Wa'il, from al-Rabi' ibn Khuthaym, who said: 'Ad were between Yemen and Syria like ants.

His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed in that is a sign... to the Exalted in Might, the Merciful."

Its interpretation has already preceded; and Allah knows best.

15796 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah reported to us, Salamah reported to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq reported: It was among the accounts of 'Ad, according to what reached me—and Allah knows best—that they were an Arab people who spoke this Arabic tongue. Allah had granted them an expanse in creation that He had not given to others. Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, says to His Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Ad—Iram—who had lofty pillars, the likes of which had never been created in the land?" Their dwellings and their community were where Allah sent them in al-Ahqaf, and al-Ahqaf is the sand, located between 'Oman, Hadramawt, and all of Yemen. Furthermore, they spread throughout the entire earth and conquered its people by virtue of the strength that Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, had given them.

His saying: "When their brother Hud said to them, 'Will you not fear Allah? Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.'"

15797 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi, who said: 'Ad were a people in Yemen in al-Ahqaf, and al-Ahqaf is the sands. He came to them and preached to them and reminded them of what Allah related in the Qur'an, but they denied him and asked that the punishment come to them.
