The Statement of the Exalted: "Indeed, We have sent down to you a Book in which is your mention."
From Ibn Abbas regarding His statement: "Indeed, We have sent down to you a Book in which is your mention," he said: In it is your honor.
13606 - From Mujahid regarding His statement: "A Book in which is your mention," he said: In it is your discourse.
13607 - From al-Hasan regarding His statement: "A Book in which is your mention," he said: In it is your religion; your Book safeguards your religion for you.
13608 - From al-Suddi regarding His statement: "A Book in which is your mention," he says: In it is the mention of that which you are concerned with, and the affair of your Hereafter and your religion.
The Statement of the Exalted: "And how many a city have We shattered..."
13609 - From Mujahid regarding His statement: "And how many a city have We shattered," he said: We destroyed it. And regarding His statement: "Do not flee," he said: Do not run away. And regarding His statement: "That you might be questioned," he said: That you might understand.
13610 - From al-Rabi' regarding the verse, he said: When they sensed the torment and the Messengers had departed from them after they had warned them and they had rejected them, then when they missed the Messengers and sensed the torment, they wished to return to belief and ran away, fleeing from the torment. So it was said to them: "Do not flee." Then they realized that there was no escape for them.
13611 - From al-Suddi regarding His statement: "Then at once they fled from it," he said: They were running away.
The Statement of the Exalted: "And return to where you were given luxury..."
13612 - From Qatadah regarding His statement: "And return to where you were given luxury," he says: Return to your worldly life in which you were given luxury, so that you might be questioned about something of your worldly life, out of mockery of them. And regarding His statement: "And that continued to be their cry," he said: When they saw the torment and witnessed it, their only constant saying was: "Indeed, we were wrongdoers," until Allah utterly destroyed and perished them.

قَوْلهُ تَعَالَى لَقَدْ أَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَابًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ
عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لَقَدْ أَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَابًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ قَالَ: فيه شرفكم «١» .
١٣٦٠٦ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: كِتَابًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ قَالَ: فيه حديثكم «٢» .
١٣٦٠٧ - عَنِ الحَسَنِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: كِتَابًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ قَالَ: فيه دينكم، أمسك عليكم دينكم كتابكم «٣» .
١٣٦٠٨ - عَنِ السُّدِّىِّ فِي قَوْلِهِ: كِتَابًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ يَقُولُ: فيه ذكر مَا تعنون به وأمر آخرتكم ودينكم «٤» .
قوله تَعَالَى وَكَمْ قَصَمْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ..
١٣٦٠٩ - عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَكَمْ قَصَمْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ قَالَ: أهلكناها. وفي قوله: لا تَرْكُضُوا قَالَ: لا تفروا: وفي قوله: لعلكم تسئلون قَالَ:
تتفهمون «٥» .
١٣٦١٠ - عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ في الآية قَالَ: كانوا إِذَا أحسوا بالعذاب وذهبت عنهم الرُّسِل من بعد ما أنذروهم فكذبوهم، فلما فقدوا الرُّسِل وأحسوا بالعذاب أرادوا الرجعة إِلَى الإِيمَان وركضوا هاربين مِنَ العذاب، فقيل لهم: لا تركضوا. فعرفوا أنه لا محيص لَهُمْ «٦» .
١٣٦١١ - عَنِ السُّدِّىِّ فِي قَوْلِهِ: إِذَا هُمْ مِنْهَا يَرْكُضُونَ قَالَ: يفرون «٧» .
قوله تَعَالَى: وَارْجِعُوا إِلَى مَا أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ ...
١٣٦١٢ - عَنْ قَتَادَة فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَارْجِعُوا إِلَى مَا أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ يَقُولُ: ارجعوا إِلَى دنياكم التي أترفتم فيها، لعلكم تسئلون مِنْ دنياكم شيئًا استهزاء بهم. وفي قوله:
فَمَا زَالَتْ تِلْكَ دَعْوَاهُمْ قَالَ: لما رأوا العذاب وعاينوه، لَمْ يكن لَهُمْ هجيري إلا قولهم إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ حتى دمر الله عليهم وأهلكهم «٨» .
