14005 - From al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "When he desires (yatamanna)," meaning by desire (tamanni): recitation and reading. "The devil casts into his desire," meaning: into the recitation of the Prophet, and Allah abrogates—Jibril abrogates by the command of Allah—what the devil cast upon the tongue of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).

14010 - From Salman al-Farisi: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) saying: "Whoever dies stationed (murabitan) in the way of Allah, Allah grants him the like of that reward, causes his provision to continue, and secures him from the tempters. And recite if you wish: 'And those who emigrated in the way of Allah and then were killed or died...' until His saying: 'Forbearing.'"
14011 - From Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd al-Ansari, the Companion, that he was in Rhodes, and they passed by two funerals, one a person killed and the other deceased. The people inclined toward the one killed. Fadalah said: "Why do I see people inclining toward this one and leaving that one?" They said: "This one is killed in the way of Allah." He said: "By Allah, I do not care from which of their holes they are resurrected. Listen to the Book of Allah: 'And those who emigrated in the way of Allah and then were killed or died.'"

His saying, the Almighty: "That, and whoever punishes..." the verse.
14013 - From Muqatil regarding His saying: "That, and whoever punishes," the verse. He said: The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) sent a detachment when two days remained of Muharram, and they encountered the polytheists. The polytheists said to one another: "Fight the companions of Muhammad, for they forbid fighting in the sacred month." The companions of Muhammad beseeched them and reminded them of Allah that they should refrain from fighting them, for they do not permit fighting in the sacred month unless someone initiates it against them. The polytheists initiated it and fought them, so the companions permitted fighting them at that point, and they fought them, and Allah granted them victory over them.
