[Surat al-Mu'minun]
His saying: "They will say, 'Our Lord, our wretchedness overcame us.'"
14043 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, [saying] Shababa narrated to us, [saying] Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "Our wretchedness overcame us," [meaning] that which was decreed upon them.
His saying: "And we were a misguided people."
14044 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, [saying] Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "Misguided," he says: Ignorant.
His saying: "Our Lord, remove us from it, and if we return, then indeed we would be wrongdoers."
14045 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, [saying] 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, [saying] Sufyan narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl (1), Abu al-Za'ra' narrated to us, [who] said: 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud said: No one will be brought out from them—meaning from Hell—except [those whose] faces and complexions [have changed]. Then the believing man will come and intercede and say: "O Lord!" He says: "Whoever recognizes anyone, let him bring him out." Then the man will come and look, and he will recognize someone and say: "O so-and-so, it is I, so-and-so." [The other] will say: "I recognize you." At that point, he will say: "Our Lord, remove us from it, and if we return, then indeed we would be wrongdoers." At that point, He will say: "Remain despised therein and do not speak to Me." When He says that, it will be sealed upon them, and no human among them will ever come out.
His saying: "Remain despised [khsa'u]."
14046 - Musa ibn Abi Musa narrated to us, [saying] Harun ibn Hatim narrated to us, [saying] 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik, regarding His saying: "Remain despised," [meaning]: Be humbled.
