He replied: "Exaltation was granted to them just as breathing was granted to you. Do you not eat, drink, come, and go, and speak while you are breathing? Likewise, exaltation was granted to them."

13633 - From Qatadah regarding His statement: "Or have they taken gods from the earth," meaning: from what they have taken of stone and wood. And regarding His statement: "If there were within them gods besides Allah," he said: If there were gods with them besides Allah, they would have been ruined. So Allah said, refuting them: "Rather, [they are] honored servants," meaning the angels. It is not as they said; rather, they are servants whom Allah honored with His worship. "And they do not intercede except on behalf of one whom He approves," he said: For the people of Tawhid (monotheism).
The Statement of the Exalted: "Except on behalf of one whom He approves."
