14131 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "The adulterer does not marry except an adulteress," he said: Men who desired to commit adultery with known prostitutes who were such during the Jahiliyyah, they were told: "This is unlawful," then they wished to marry them, so Allah made marrying them unlawful for them.
14132 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Mujahid: "The adulterer does not marry except an adulteress or a polytheist," he said: Known women who were called 'al-qaliqat' (the promiscuous ones).
14133 - My father narrated to us, Musaddad Abu al-Hasan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Warith narrated to us, from Habib al-Mu'allim, 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb narrated to me, from Sa'id al-Maqburi, from Abu Hurayrah, he said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "The adulterer who has been flogged does not marry except one like him."
14134 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu Khalid narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, he said: It was mentioned in his presence: "The adulterer does not marry except an adulteress or a polytheist, and the adulteress does not marry anyone except an adulterer or a polytheist." He said: It was said that the verse that follows it abrogated it, which is: "And marry the unmarried among you," he said: "It was said: The unmarried among the Muslims."
14135 - My father narrated to us, Ibn Abi 'Umar narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from 'Ubayd Allah ibn Abi Yazid, he said: I heard Ibn 'Abbas saying: "The adulterer does not marry except an adulteress or a polytheist," he said: He judged between them. Sufyan was asked about its interpretation and he said: He did not interpret it for us.
His saying, the Almighty: "Or a polytheist."
14136 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Musaddad narrated to us, Ibn Abi 'Adi narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed us, from 'Ata', meaning His saying: "The adulterer does not marry except an adulteress or a polytheist," he said: They were prostitutes who made their prostitution public during the Jahiliyyah, such as the prostitution of the family of so-and-so, so Allah (the Almighty and Majestic) said: "The adulterer does not marry except an adulteress or a polytheist" among them. It was said to him: "Has that reached you from Ibn 'Abbas?" He said: "Yes."
