Translation · EN

14137 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih the scribe of al-Layth narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "Or a polytheist," he said: Or a polytheist from other than the people of the Qiblah.

14138 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "Or a polytheist," he said: A polytheist from the People of the Scripture, a Jewess or a Christian.

14139 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "The adulterer does not marry except an adulteress or a polytheist," he said: These are women who were prostitutes in the Jahiliyyah, and marriage in the Book of Allah is sexual intercourse (isabah); no one has intercourse with her except an adulterer or a polytheist, who does not forbid adultery, and he does not have intercourse except with one like her.

His saying, the Almighty: "And the adulteress, no one marries her except an adulterer."

14140 - 'Abd al-Razzaq ibn Bakr al-Isbahani narrated to us, Huraym ibn 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, al-Mu'tamir narrated to us, from his father, al-Hadrami narrated to us, from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As, that a man asked the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) regarding a woman known as Umm Mahzul who used to commit adultery and stipulated that she would provide sustenance, and that he asked the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) or mentioned her matter to him. He said: So the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) recited: "And the adulteress, no one marries her except an adulterer or a polytheist."

14141 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Ibn Idris narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Malik, from al-Qasim ibn Abi Bazzah, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, he said: They were women who were prostitutes in the Jahiliyyah, and a man would marry a woman in Islam and have intercourse with her, so that was forbidden in Islam, and Allah revealed: "And the adulteress, no one marries her except an adulterer or a polytheist," and that was forbidden for the believers.

14142 - Abu Sa'id narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Bashir narrated to us, from Ibn Shubrumah, from 'Ikrimah: "And the adulteress, no one marries her except an adulterer or a polytheist," he said: No one marries her except while he is like that.

14143 - Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Ya'la ibn Muslim, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr: "The adulterer does not marry except an adulteress or a polytheist, and the adulteress, no one marries her except an adulterer or a polytheist."
