His saying, the Almighty: "And those who accuse..."
14156 - Through the same chain, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "And those who..." meaning those who commit slander [qadhf].
14157 - It was mentioned from Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi, Hisham narrated to us, from Qatadah, that 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz said: "And those who accuse chaste women" means those who commit slander. He said: I have not seen Allah distinguish between the free person and the slave, so 'Umar [ibn al-Khattab] flogged the slave [eighty lashes for slander].
His saying: "chaste women [al-muhsanat]."
14158 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Walid ibn 'Utbah narrated to us, Baqiyyah narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Ubayd narrated to me, al-Hajjaj narrated to me, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn al-Musayyib, from Abu Hurayrah, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Chastity [ihsan] is of two types: chastity of marriage and chastity of virtue."
14159 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "chaste women [al-muhsanat]" - he says: The free women.
14160 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, from 'Ata' ibn Dinar, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "And those who accuse chaste women" meaning: those who slander the free women of the Muslim women with adultery.
14161 - al-'Abbas ibn Yazid al-'Abdi narrated to us, Abu Mihsan Husayn ibn Numayr narrated to us, from al-Sha'bi, from 'Asim ibn 'Adi, he said: When [the verse] "And those who accuse chaste women, then do not produce four witnesses, lash them with eighty lashes" was revealed, I said: O Messenger of Allah, until a man brings four witnesses, the man [accused] will have already left. I did not wait but a few days, when a cousin of mine came with his wife, and with her was a son, and she was saying: "It is from you," and he was saying: "It is not from me." Then the verse of Li'an (oath of condemnation) was revealed. 'Asim said: I was the first to speak [about this] and the first to be afflicted by it.
14162 - Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abd al-Hakam informed us by way of reading, 'Abd Allah ibn Wahb informed us, Yunus ibn Yazid informed me, from Ibn Shihab, that he said regarding the saying of Allah:

قوله تعالى: وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ.
١٤١٥٦ - بِهِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَالَّذِينَ يًعْنِى الَّذِينَ يَقْذِفُونَ.
١٤١٥٧ - ذُكِرَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْعَوْفِيِّ، ثنا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ عمر ابن عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ قالَ: وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ الْمُحْصَنَاتِ يًعْنِى الَّذِينَ يَقْذِفُونَ. قَالَ: لَمْ أَرَ اللَّهَ فَرَّقَ بَيْنَ الْحُرِّ وَالْعَبْدِ، فَجَلَدَ عُمَرُ الْعَبْدَ ثَمَانِينَ.
قَوْلُهُ: الْمُحْصَنَاتِ.
١٤١٥٨ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ عُتْبَةَ، ثنا بَقِيَّةُ حَدَّثَنِي بِشْرُ ابن عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي الْحَجَّاجُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ:
رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: الإِحْصَانُ إِحْصَانَانِ، إِحْصَانُ نِكَاحٍ وَإِحْصَانُ عَفَافٍ.
١٤١٥٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ ابْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلَهُ: الْمُحْصَنَاتُ يَقُولُ: الْحَرَائِرُ.
١٤١٦٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يحي بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عن عَطَاءُ ابْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ الْمُحْصَنَاتِ يَعْنِى: الَّذِينَ يَقْذِفُونَ الْحَرَائِرَ مِنْ نِسَاءِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ بِالزِّنَا.
١٤١٦١ - حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْعَبْدِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو مِحْصَنٍ حُصَيْنُ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ قَالَ: لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ: وَالَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ الْمُحْصَنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَأْتُوا بِأَرْبَعَةِ شُهَدَاءَ، فَاجْلِدُوهُمْ ثمانين جلدة قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِلَى أَنْ يَأْتِيَ الرَّجُلُ بِأَرْبَعَةِ شُهَدَاءَ، قَدْ خَرَجَ الرَّجُلُ. فَلَمْ أَلْبَثْ إِلا أَيَّامًا، فَإِذَا ابْنُ عَمٍّ لِي معه امرأته، ومعها ابْنٌ، وَهِيَ تَقُولُ: مِنْكَ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: لَيْسَ مِنِّي، فَنَزَلَتْ آيَةُ اللِّعَانِ، قَالَ:
عَاصِمٌ: فَأَنَا أَوَّلُ مَنْ تَكَلَّمَ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنِ ابْتُلِيَ بِهِ «١» .
١٤١٦٢ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ قراءة أنبأ عبد الله ابن وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّهُ قال: في قول الله:
