Translation · EN

its belly, and that I am indeed of the truthful." Then he said: "I bear witness a third time by Allah that such-and-such woman is an adulteress, and she is pregnant from someone else, and I am indeed of the truthful." Then he swore the fourth time by Allah, other than Whom there is no god, that such-and-such woman is an adulteress, and I have not approached her for four months, and she is pregnant from someone else, and I am indeed of the truthful." Then he said in the fifth: "The curse of Allah be upon Hilal ibn Umayyah"—meaning himself—"if he were of the liars."

14186 - Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani narrated to me, Hafs ibn 'Umar informed us, al-Hakam ibn Aban narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah regarding His saying: "And the fifth [oath] is that the curse of Allah be upon him if he were of the liars," he said: "It has become mandatory."

14187 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abdullah narrated to us, 'Abdullah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "And the fifth [oath] is that the curse of Allah be upon him," meaning upon himself, if he were of the liars.

His saying, the Exalted: "And it shall avert the punishment from her."

14188 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying, the Exalted: "And it shall avert the punishment from her," meaning it shall push it away.

14189 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "And it shall avert the punishment from her," he says: "The punishment shall be obstructed from her."

His saying, the Exalted: "from her."

14190 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to me, Yahya ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "the punishment from her," meaning the authorities shall push away from the woman—His saying: "the punishment," meaning the legal penalty (Hadd)—after she gives four testimonies by Allah, meaning against her husband, that he is indeed of the liars.

14191 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And it shall avert the punishment from her," meaning the punishment of this world.
