13649 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His statement: "each in an orbit," he said: A sphere like the sphere of a spindle. "swimming," he said: They rotate in the gates of the sky as the sphere rotates in the spindle.
13650 - From Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, regarding His statement: "each in an orbit," he said: It is the orbit of the sky.
13651 - From Hassan ibn Atiyah, he said: The sun, the moon, and the stars are subjected in an orbit between the sky and the earth.
13652 - From Ibn Zayd, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding His statement: "each in an orbit," he said: The orbit that is between the sky and the earth from the courses of the stars, the sun, and the moon. And regarding His statement: "swimming," he said: They proceed.
The Statement of the Exalted: "And We did not grant to any human before you immortality..."
13653 - From Aishah, she said: Abu Bakr entered upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while he was dead, kissed him, and said: "O my Prophet!... O my close friend!... O my chosen one!..." Then he recited: "And We did not grant to any human before you immortality," [to the end of] the verse. And His statement: "Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die."
The Statement of the Exalted: "And We test you with evil and with good as trial..."
13654 - From Ibn Abbas, regarding His statement: "And We test you with evil and with good as trial," he said: We test you with hardship and ease, health and sickness, wealth and poverty, the lawful and the unlawful, obedience and disobedience, guidance and misguidance.
The Statement of the Exalted: "And when those who disbelieved see you, they take you not except in ridicule."
13655 - From al-Suddi, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed by Abu Sufyan and Abu Jahl while they were talking. When Abu Jahl saw him, he laughed and said to Abu Sufyan: 'This is the prophet of the Banu Abd Manaf.' Abu Sufyan became angry and said: 'What do you find objectionable about the Banu Abd Manaf having a prophet?' The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard this, so he returned to Abu Jahl, confronted him, warned him, and said: 'I do not see you stopping until what befell your uncle befalls you.' He then said to Abu Sufyan: 'As for you, you did not say what you said except out of tribal zeal.' Then this verse was revealed: 'And when those who disbelieved see you, they take you not except in ridicule,' [to the end of] the verse."
