15852 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, [saying]: Shababah narrated to us, [saying]: Waraqah narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding "And palm trees with delicate spathes," [who] said: "It breaks apart (yatahashsham) into pieces."
15853 - al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, [saying]: Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah announced to us, [saying]: Hajjaj announced, [saying]: Ibn Jurayj said, from Mujahid regarding "And palm trees with delicate spathes," [who] said: "It breaks apart and crumbles when it is touched."
He said: And Ibn Jurayj said: I heard 'Abd al-Karim Abu Umayyah saying: I heard Mujahid saying regarding "And palm trees with delicate spathes," [who] said: "When it emerges (at-tal'u)," he said: "He grasps it and crushes it (yagdimuhu)."
He said: And Mujahid said: "It is from the soft, delicate (al-hadim) [fruit], he grasps it, and from the dry, brittle (al-hashim) [fruit], he grasps it and breaks it into pieces."
15854 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu al-Darda' ibn Munib narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Mu'adh al-Fadl ibn Khalid al-Nahwi narrated to us, from 'Ubayd ibn Sulayman al-Bahili, from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "Its spathes are delicate/ripened (hadim)," [who] said: "When the tree's load becomes heavy, it overlaps until it presses against itself, and it is at that time 'hadim'."
His saying (the Almighty): "And you carve homes out of the mountains"
15855 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, [saying]: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And you carve homes out of the mountains," [who] said: "They used to bore homes into the mountains."
His saying: "Skillful/Exultant (farihin)"
[The first interpretation]
15856 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: Abu Salih narrated to us, [saying]: Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Farihin," [who] says: "Skillful (hadhiqin)." It was narrated from Abu Salih and Mu'awiyah ibn Qurrah similar to that.
15857 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: 'Ali al-Tanafisi narrated to us, [saying]: 'Uthman narrated to us, [saying]: Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid narrated to us, from Abu Salih and from 'Abd Allah ibn Shaddad ibn al-Had regarding His saying: "Farihin," [who] said: "One of them said: Skillful at carving them, and the other said: They choose [where to build]."
The second interpretation:
15858 - Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri narrated to us, [saying]: Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "Farihin," [who] said: "Exultant/Reckless (sharihin)." It was narrated from Shahr ibn Hawshab similar to that.
١٥٨٥٢ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرَقَةُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ يَتَهَشَّمُ تَهَشُّمًا.
١٥٨٥٣ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ أنبأ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنْبَأَ حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ ابن جريح، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ قَالَ: يَتَهَشَّمُ وَيَتَفَتَّتُ إِذَا مُسَّ
قَالَ: وَقَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الْكَرِيمِ أَبَا أُمَيَّةَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ مجاهد يَقُولُ: وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ قَالَ: حِينَ يَطْلُعُ قَالَ: يَقْبِضُ عَلَيْهِ فَيَهْضِمُهُ
قَالَ: وَقَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: فَهُوَ مِنَ الرَّطِبِ الْهَضْيمِ يَقْبِضُ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنَ الْيَابِسِ الْهَشِيمِ يَقْبِضِ عَلَيْهِ فَيُهَشِّمُهُ.
١٥٨٥٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ بْنُ مُنِيبٍ، ثنا أَبُو مُعَاذٍ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ النَّحْوِيُّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ إِذَا كَثُرَ حَمْلُ الشَّجَرِ فَرَكِبَ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا حَتَّى يَغُضَّ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا فَهُوَ حِينَئِذٍ هَضِيمٌ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا
١٥٨٥٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ الأَوْدِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ: وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا قَالَ كَانُوا يَنْقُبُونَ فِي الْجِبَالِ الْبُيُوتَ.

١٥٨٥٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عَلِيُّ الطَّنَافِسِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَدَّادِ بْنِ الْهَادِ قَوْلُهُ: فَارِهِينَ قَالَ: أَحَدُهُمَا حَاذِقِينَ بِنَحْتِهَا وَقَالَ الآخَرُ: يَتَخَيَّرُونَ.
