16429 - Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Suwayd ibn Sa'id narrated to us, Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from al-Minhal, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas: "Solomon ordered the devils, so they made for her a palace paved with glass, and he placed fish statues inside it. It was then said to her, 'Enter the palace.'"

16430 - Al-Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, his saying: "Palace," a pool of water over which Solomon placed sheets of glass, covering it. Bilqis was hairy and shaggy, and her feet were like the hooves of a donkey, for her mother was a jinn.

16431 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, his saying: "It was said to her, 'Enter the palace.' But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water." The palace was a construction made of glass built over water. When she saw the movement of the fish behind it, it did not seem to her to be anything but a body of water. She uncovered her legs. We were told that one of her parents was a jinn, and the back of her foot was like the hoof of an animal, and when she placed it on the palace, she would shatter it.

16432 - My father narrated to us, 'Amr ibn 'Awn al-Wasiti narrated to us, Hushaym narrated to us, from Isma'il, from Abu Salih, who said: "The palace was made of glass and statues of fish were placed within it."

16433 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, 'Amir narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, who said: "Her physical appearance had been described to him, and he wished to see her legs. He ordered the bath to be made, and it was made, and it was said to her, 'Enter the palace.' When she entered it, she thought it was water, so she uncovered her legs."

His saying, the Exalted: "But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water"

16434 - My father narrated to us, 'Amr ibn 'Awn narrated to us, Hushaym informed us, from Husayn, from 'Abd Allah ibn Shaddad: "But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water," she thought it was water.

16435 - Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: "Then Solomon ordered the palace, and the devils had made it of glass, as if it were water in its whiteness. Then water was released underneath it, then a throne was placed for him, and he sat upon it, and the birds, the jinn, and mankind were gathered around him."
