His saying, the Exalted: "And We caused to grow thereby gardens."

16500 - My father narrated to us, Abu al-Ash'ath Ahmad ibn al-Miqdam narrated to us, Mu'tamir narrated to us, he said: I heard my father narrating from Sayyar, from Khalid ibn Yazid, he said: [I] was with 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, and they mentioned water. Khalid ibn Yazid said: Some of it is from the sky, and some of it is what the clouds draw from the sea, then the thunder and lightning make it sweet. As for what is from the sea, it does not produce vegetation, but as for the vegetation, it is from the water of the sky.

His saying, the Exalted: "gardens."

16501 - Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani informed me in what he wrote to me, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "gardens," he said: Beautiful palm trees.

16502 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Hatim al-Zimmi narrated to us, Marwan informed us, Juwaybir narrated to us, from al-Dahhak: "gardens," he said: Orchards.

16503 - 'Ubayd ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Hamzah informed me in what he wrote to me, Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir narrated to us, from Qatadah: "gardens," he said: Gardens possessing beauty. He said: Possessing splendor.

His saying, the Exalted: "possessing beauty."

16504 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "gardens possessing beauty," [it means] the blossoms of that which people and livestock eat.

16505 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, al-Muharibi narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak: "possessing beauty," he said: Possessing excellence.

His saying, the Exalted: "It is not [possible] for you to grow their trees."

16506 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Tahrani informed me in what he wrote to me, Isma'il ibn 'Abd al-Karim informed us, 'Abd al-Samad ibn Ma'qil narrated to me that he heard his uncle Wahb ibn Munabbih saying: Maryam bint 'Imran said: Indeed, Allah caused the trees to grow by His power without rain, and He made through that power the rain [to be] life for the trees after He created each of them individually.
