His saying, the Exalted: "Is there a god with Allah?"
16507 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas informed us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, regarding His saying: "Is there a god with Allah?" i.e., there is no god with Allah.
16508 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, he said: It was narrated to me from al-Husayn ibn 'Ali al-Ju'fi, from Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah, from Jami' ibn Abi Rashid, from Zayd ibn Aslam: "Is there a god with Allah?" He said: Is there a god with Allah who did this?
His saying, the Exalted: "Nay, they are a people who equate [others with Him]."
16509 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "who equate," he said: They associate partners with Him.
16510 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed me in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding His saying: "Nay, they are a people who equate," he said: The gods which they worshipped, they equated them with Allah; there is no equal for Allah, nor any peer, and He has not taken a spouse nor a child.
His saying, the Exalted: "Or who made the earth a dwelling place, and made rivers within it"
16511 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Tahrani informed me in what he wrote to me, Isma'il ibn 'Abd al-Karim informed us, 'Abd al-Samad ibn Ma'qil narrated to me, he said: I heard Wahb ibn Munabbih saying: Jurjis said: He is the One who placed the earth, leveled it, erected its mountains upon it, opened its rivers within it, made it vocal with its seas, caused its trees to grow within it, and let its night and day run within it; and for Him, those who are upon it have glorified Him, and it remained upright upon its resting place.
His saying, the Exalted: "And made for it firm mountains"
16512 - My father narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Muhammad al-Naqid narrated to us, Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, al-'Awwam ibn Hawshab informed us, from Sulayman ibn Abi Sulayman, from Anas ibn Malik, from the Prophet (peace be upon him) he said: When Allah created the earth, it began to sway, so Allah created the mountains and cast them upon it, so it became stable. The angels marveled at the creation of the mountains and said: O Lord, is there any of Your creation stronger than the mountains? He said: Yes, iron. They said: O Lord, is there any of Your creation stronger than iron? He said: Yes, fire. They said: Is there any of Your creation stronger than fire? He said: Yes, water. They said: O Lord, is there any of Your creation stronger than water? He said: Yes, the wind. They said: O Lord, is there any of Your creation stronger than the wind? He said: Yes, the son of Adam who gives charity with his right hand and conceals it from his left.
