16515 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from 'Amr, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "And set a barrier between the two seas," he said: The sea of Persia and the [sea of the] Byzantines.

[The second interpretation]

16516 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, 'Uqbah narrated to me, from Isra'il, from Jabir, from Mujahid, who said: A sea in the sky and a sea on the earth.

16517 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, 'Amir narrated to us, from Asbat, regarding "And set a barrier between the two seas," he said: They are the sea of al-Sham and the sea of Iraq, and the people are between them.

His saying, the Exalted: "a barrier"

16518 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Hani ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak: Then He set a barrier between them by His command; the salty [water] does not flow over the fresh, nor does the fresh [flow] over the salty.

His saying, the Exalted: "Is there a god with Allah? Nay, most of them do not know."
