and had I looked upon the seas, their waters would have dried up and their depths would have appeared from fear of Me; and were all of the creation to hear a single word of My speech, they would have swooned from fear of Me. So produce your proof, O you ignorant ones, that this creation has a creator other than Me, or that I have a partner, as you have claimed, in My sovereignty, or a second protector alongside Me. And for what reason did you worship them instead of Me? And for what reason did you remove them from My worship, My sovereignty, and My lordship? Woe, long woe on that day to those who showed their falsehood to be truth concerning Me, and woe, long woe on that day to those who choked off the truth with misguidance, and woe, long woe to those whose argument collapsed before Me.

His saying, the Exalted: "If you are truthful."

16534 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, from Abu Ja'far, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding "If you are truthful," meaning: by what you say, that it is as you say. Similar to this was narrated from al-Rabi' ibn Anas.

His saying, the Exalted: "Say, none in the heavens and the earth knows the unseen except Allah."

16535 - My father narrated to us, Ali ibn al-Ja'd narrated to us, Abu Ja'far al-Razi reported, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from 'Amir al-Sha'bi, from Masruq, from 'Aishah, who said: Whoever claims that he knows—meaning the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace—what will happen tomorrow, has indeed fabricated a great lie against Allah, because Allah says: "None in the heavens and the earth knows the unseen except Allah."

16536 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn Khalid narrated to us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, who said: Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, only created these stars for three purposes: He made them as an adornment for the heaven, He made them as guides, and He made them as missiles for the devils. Whoever claims anything else regarding them has spoken his own opinion, missed his share, wasted his portion, and concerned himself with what he has no knowledge of. Some ignorant people regarding the command of Allah have innovated a form of soothsaying regarding these stars: that whoever gets married under such-and-such star will have such-and-such happen, and whoever travels under such-and-such star will have such-and-such happen. And by my life, there is no star but that the red, the black, the tall, the short, the beautiful, and the ugly are born under it. Neither this star, nor this beast, nor this bird knows anything of the unseen. And Allah has decreed: "None in the heavens and the earth knows the unseen except Allah," and "they do not perceive when they will be resurrected." And by my life, if anyone were to know the unseen, it would have been Adam, whom Allah created
