His saying, the Exalted: "So rely upon Allah; indeed, you are upon the clear truth."

16579 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "So rely upon Allah," meaning: be satisfied with Him as opposed to (relying upon) the servants.

16580 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id regarding His saying: "the clear" (al-mubin), meaning: the manifest (al-bayyin).

His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, you will not make the dead hear."

16581 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn Khalid narrated to us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Indeed, you will not make the dead hear," he said: This is a parable Allah struck for the disbeliever; just as the dead person does not hear, so too does the disbeliever not hear, nor does he benefit from it. And regarding His saying: "nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they turn their backs, retreating," he says: If a deaf person turned his back, retreating, and then you called out to him, he would not hear. Likewise, the disbeliever does not hear, nor does he benefit from what he hears.

His saying, the Exalted: "And you are not the guide to the blind away from their error."

16582 - It is mentioned from Wahib ibn 'Amr ibn 'Uthman al-Basri, Harun ibn Musa al-Nahwi informed us, Wasil, the freed slave of Abu 'Uyaynah, narrated to me, from Yahya ibn 'Aqil, from Yahya ibn Ya'mur regarding His saying: "And you are not the guide to the blind away from their error," meaning: you do not do that.

His saying, the Exalted: "You will make none hear except those who believe in Our verses, and so they are Muslims (submitting)."

16583 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Muslimun," he says: They are those who profess the Oneness of Allah (muwahhidun).

16584 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us, Zuhayr ibn Muhammad narrated to us regarding His saying: "Muslimun," he says: Those who are sincere.

[His saying, the Exalted: "And when the Word comes to pass upon them"]

[The First Aspect]

16585 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Abi Yazid al-Hamdani narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Qays, from 'Atiyyah, from Ibn 'Umar, something similar to it. And before it: "And when the Word comes to pass upon them, We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth," he said: This is when they do not enjoin the good and do not forbid the evil.
