16586 - Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Ja'far ibn 'Awn narrated to us, Musa ibn 'Ubaydah narrated to us, from Safwan ibn Sulaym, from Najiyah ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Utbah, from his father, who said: 'Abd Allah said: "Increase your circumambulation (Tawaf) of the House (the Ka'bah) before it is raised and people forget its location. And increase your recitation of the Quran before it is raised." He said: "These copies (Masahif) will be raised, so what of that which is in the chests of men?" He said: "It will be taken away from them at night, and they will wake up with it having been emptied. They will forget the saying of 'La ilaha illa Allah' (there is no god but Allah) and will fall into the speech of the Jahiliyyah and their poetry. That is the time when the Word comes to pass upon them," meaning: "And when the Word comes to pass upon them."

16587 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Ibn Fudayl, Ibn Numayr, and Hafs narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Zabyan, from Hudhayfah, who said: By Allah, he did not recite about the people of Lot.

16588 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding "the Word comes to pass upon them," he said: It is decreed upon them.

The Second Aspect:

16589 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Musaddad narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Muslim al-Bahili narrated to us, Musa Abu al-'Ula narrated to us, who said: We were at a funeral where al-Hasan was present. I sent a Muezzin of ours, called Salim Abu Hashim, and I said: Ask al-Hasan about this verse: "And when the Word comes to pass upon them, We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth, speaking to them." He said: He came and said: "Indeed, Allah on that day is angry with the people of the earth."

16590 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Musaddad narrated to us, Mu'tamir narrated to us, who said: I heard Shabib narrating from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "And when the Word comes to pass upon them," he said: It is the anger.

The Third Aspect:

16591 - al-Mundhir ibn Shadhan narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Za'idah narrated to us, Hisham ibn Hassan narrated to us, from Hafsah, who said: I asked Abu al-'Aliyah regarding the saying of Allah: "And when the Word comes to pass upon them," he said: It was revealed to Noah that none of your people will believe except those who have already believed."
