Translation · EN

whoever hears it, pregnant women will give birth before their term, fresh water will turn bitter, friends will become enemies, wisdom will be violated, knowledge will be raised, and the land that is next to it will speak. In that time, people will hope for what they will not attain, they will toil for what they will not achieve, and they will work for what they will not eat.

His saying, the Exalted: "Speaking to them"

16604 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih the scribe of al-Layth narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "A creature from the earth speaking to them"—he says: "It speaks to them." It was also narrated from Qatadah similarly.

16605 - My father narrated to us, Musaddad narrated to us, 'Abd al-Warith narrated to us, from Yunus ibn 'Ubayd, from al-Hasan, who said: "The creature of the earth will emerge when people become corrupt, and there is a creature for them that will speak to them in speech."

16606 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Yunus narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, he said: Abu Muhammad, meaning Nufay' al-A'ma, said: I asked Ibn 'Abbas about His saying: "We brought forth for them a creature from the earth, speaking to them [tukallimuhum] or wounding them [taklimuhum]?" He said: "It does all of that, by Allah. It speaks to the believer, and it wounds the disbeliever."

16607 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu 'Umayr ibn al-Nahhas narrated to us, Damrah narrated to us, Sadaqah ibn Yazid narrated to us, who said: "The creature will come to the man while he is standing praying in the mosque, and 'liar' will be written between his eyes."

His saying, the Exalted: "That people had no certainty in Our signs"

16608 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid al-Bayruti informed us by reading, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb ibn Shabur informed us, 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' informed me, from his father, 'Ata' ibn Abi Muslim al-Khurasani: "As for the creature of the earth speaking to them, its speech means telling them: 'That people had no certainty in Our signs.'"

16609 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Uqbah ibn Mukram narrated to us, Yunus ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Yahya ibn Salamah ibn Kuhayl reported to us, from his father, from Abu al-Za'ra', that a man asked 'Abd Allah about the creature, and he said to him: "Ask 'Ali, for he knows about that." So he asked 'Ali, who said: "It eats food, walks in the markets, and speaks to people: 'That people had no certainty in Our signs.'"
