Translation · EN

His saying, the Exalted: "She nearly disclosed it."

16712 - Ayyub ibn Hassan al-Wasiti narrated to us: Sufyan narrated to us, from Abu Sa'd al-Baqqal, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "She nearly disclosed it," [meaning] she nearly said, "He is mine."

16713 - Ahmad ibn Sinan al-Wasiti narrated to us: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi and Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri narrated to us, from Sufyan, from al-A'mash, from Hassan—meaning Abu al-Ashras—from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "She nearly disclosed it," [meaning] that she would say: "O my son!" It was narrated from Abu 'Ubaydah, 'Ikrimah, Mughith ibn Sumayy, and Qatadah similarly.

16714 - My father narrated to us: 'Ali ibn Hashim narrated to us: Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Hassan Abu al-Ashras, from Mughith ibn Sumayy, or from Abu 'Ubaydah, regarding His saying: "She nearly disclosed it," he said: "She was about to say, 'I am his mother.'"

16715 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: "And when his mother came, he was taken from her, and she nearly said, 'He is my son,' but Allah protected her (asama-ha). That is His saying: 'She nearly disclosed it.'"

16716 - And by the same chain, regarding His saying: "If We had not braced her heart," he says: "Allah protected her."

16717 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: al-'Abbas informed us: Yazid narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "She nearly disclosed it," meaning: "She would have announced that he was her son, from the intensity of her yearning." Allah the Exalted said: "If We had not braced her heart," meaning: "with faith."

His saying, the Exalted: "So that she would be one of the believers."

16718 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me: 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr: "So that she would be one of the believers," [meaning] from those who believe [in His promise].

16719 - It was mentioned from Ahmad ibn Abi Taybah, from 'Anbasah ibn Sa'id, the judge of al-Rayy, from Simak, or al-Suddi, regarding: "So that she would be one of the believers," he said: "She was already one of the believers, but [this refers to] His saying: 'We will return him to you and make him one of the messengers.'"
