His saying, the Exalted: "And that she might know that the promise of Allah is truth." Its explanation has already preceded.
16740 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us: Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And that she might know that the promise of Allah is truth." He promised her that He would restore him to her and make him one of the messengers, and Allah did that for her.
His saying, the Exalted: "But most of them do not know." Meaning: they do not understand. Its chain of narration has already preceded.
His saying, the Exalted: "And when he reached his full strength."

16741 - It was read to Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la: Ibn Wahb informed us: Yahya ibn Ayyub narrated to me, from 'Amr ibn al-Harith, from Rabi'ah regarding the saying of Allah: "Reached his full strength," [meaning]: puberty.
16742 - Ibn Wahb said: And 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam narrated to me, from his father, the like thereof. Malik said: The like thereof.
The Second View:
16743 - Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Mus'ab al-Suri narrated to us: Mu'ammal narrated to us, [who] said: I heard Sufyan al-Thawri saying: "Reached his full strength" [is] up to thirty-four years. Its explanation and the opinions regarding it have already preceded it.
His saying, the Exalted: "And attained maturity."

16744 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us: 'Abd Allah ibn Idris narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Uthman ibn Khuthaym, from Mujahid, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "And attained maturity," [who] said: Forty [years]. It was narrated from Mujahid, Qatadah, Zayd ibn Aslam, and al-Thawri the like thereof.
The Second View:
16745 - My father narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Yazid ibn Sinan narrated to us: Ma'qil—meaning ibn 'Ubayd Allah—narrated to us, from Ibn Qabisah regarding His saying: "Reached his full strength and attained maturity," meaning by attainment of maturity: the growth of his beard.
His saying, the Exalted: "We gave him judgment and knowledge."

16746 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us: Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq regarding "And when he reached his full strength and attained maturity, We gave him judgment and knowledge," meaning Allah gave him judgment and knowledge.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلِتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ

١٦٧٤٠ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ثنا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَلِتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَوَعَدَهَا أَنَّهُ رَادُّهُ إِلَيْهَا وَجَاعِلُهُ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ، فَفَعَلَ اللَّهُ بِهَا ذَلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَكِنَّ أكثرهم لا يعلمون
أَيْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ تَقَدَّمَ إِسْنَادُهُ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: ولما بلغ أشده

١٦٧٤١ - قُرِئَ عَلَى يُونُسَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ أَشُدُّهُ: الْحُلُمُ.
١٦٧٤٢ - قَالَ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ: وَحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ مِثْلَهُ.
قَالَ مَالِكٌ: مِثْلَهُ.
الْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:
١٦٧٤٣ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُصْعَبٍ الصُّورِيُّ، ثنا مُؤَمَّلٌ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيُّ يَقُولُ: بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ إِلَى أَرْبَعَةٍ وَثَلاثِينَ سَنَةً. تَقَدَّمَ تَفْسِيرُهُ وَالأَقَاوِيلُ فِيهِ قَبْلَهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تعالى: واستوى

١٦٧٤٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ابْنُ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَاسْتَوَى قَالَ: أَرْبَعُونَ.
وَرُوِيَ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَقَتَادَةَ وَزَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ وَالثَّوْرِيِّ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ.
الْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:
١٦٧٤٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ سِنَانٍ، ثنا مَعْقِلٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ قَبِيصَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ: بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ وَاسْتَوَى يَعْنِي بِالاسْتِوَاءِ: خُرُوجَ لِحْيَتِهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: آتَيْنَاهُ حكما وعلما

١٦٧٤٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ، عن محمد ابن إِسْحَاقَ وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ وَاسْتَوَى آتَيْنَاهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا أَيْ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا.
