Translation · EN

16766 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us: Shababah narrated to us: Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "So Moses struck him with his clenched fist."

16767 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us: Yazid narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "So Moses struck him," meaning: The Prophet of Allah, Moses, peace be upon him, struck him with his staff, and he did not intend to kill him.

16768 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us: Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq who said: Moses had been given abundance in creation and strength in power, so he grabbed him by their dispute, and Moses struck him a blow from which he died, while he did not intend to kill him.

16769 - My father narrated to us: Yusuf ibn Ya'qub al-Saffar narrated to us: 'Uthman ibn 'Ali narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr who said: The one whom Moses struck was a baker for Pharaoh.

His saying, the Exalted: "And he finished him off."

16770 - My father narrated to us: Ibn Abi 'Umar narrated to us: Sufyan narrated to us, from Abu Sa'd, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And he finished him off," [meaning] he died, so that weighed heavily upon Moses, peace be upon him.

His saying, the Exalted: "He said, 'This is from the work of Satan; indeed, he is a manifest, misleading enemy.'"

16771 - Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Abi al-Thalj narrated to us: Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us: Asbagh ibn Zayd informed us: al-Qasim ibn Abi Ayyub narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Jubayr narrated to us, from Ibn 'Abbas who said: Moses said when he killed the man: "This is from the work of Satan; indeed, he is a manifest, misleading enemy."

His saying, the Exalted: "He said, 'My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me,' so He forgave him."

16772 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us: Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas who said regarding Moses: "Indeed I have wronged myself," meaning a sin.

16773 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us: Shayban narrated to us: Abu Hilal narrated to us: Qatadah regarding His saying: "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself," he said: The Prophet of Allah, peace be upon him, knew from where the exit was intended, so he did not attribute his sin to his Lord. Some people said: That is, from the side of the preordained.

١٦٧٦٦ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فَوَكَزَهُ مُوسَى بِجَمْعِ كَفِّهِ.

١٦٧٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: فَوَكَزَهُ مُوسَى يَقُولُ: فَوَكَزَهُ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ مُوسَى صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- بِعَصَاهُ وَلَمْ يَتَعَمَّدْ قَتْلَهُ.

١٦٧٦٨ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: وَكَانَ مُوسَى قَدْ أُوتِيَ بَسْطَةً فِي الْخَلْقِ، وَشِدَّةً فِي الْبَطْشِ فَضَبَّ بِعُدُوِّهِمَا فَنَازَعُهُ، فَوَكَزَهُ مُوسَى وَكْزَةً قَتَلَهُ مِنْهَا، وَهُوَ لَا يُرِيدُ قَتْلَهُ.

١٦٧٦٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ: الَّذِي وَكَزَهُ مُوسَى كَانَ خَبَّازًا لِفِرْعَوْنَ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَقَضَى عَلَيْهِ

١٦٧٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعْدٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَقَضَى عَلَيْهِ فَمَاتَ، فَكَبُرَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى مُوسَى صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: قَالَ هَذَا مِنْ عمل الشيطان إنه عدو مضل مبين

١٦٧٧١ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي الثَّلْجِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنْبَأَ أَصْبَغُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، ثنا الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: فَقَالَ مُوسَى حِينَ قَتَلَ الرَّجُلَ هَذَا مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ إِنَّهُ عَدُوٌّ مُضِلٌّ مُبِينٌ

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَغَفَرَ له

١٦٧٧٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنْبَأَ بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ فِي مُوسَى: إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي يَعْنِي ذَنْبًا.

١٦٧٧٣ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، ثَنَا أَبُو هِلالٍ، ثنا قَتَادَةُ فِي قَوْلِهِ:

رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي قَالَ: عَرَفَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَيْنَ الْمَخْرَجِ يُرَادُ الْمَخْرَجُ، فَلَمْ يُلْقِ ذَنْبَهُ عَلَى رَبِّهِ. قَالَ بَعْضُ النَّاسِ: أَيْ من جهة المقدور.
