16825 - Ibn Abi al-Thalj narrated to us: Yazid narrated to us: Asbagh reported: al-Qasim narrated to us: Sa'id narrated to us, from Ibn 'Abbas: He said to them, "What is your affair, being separated and not watering with the people?" They replied, "We do not have the strength to compete with the people, and we only wait for the remains in their troughs."
16826 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: They said, "We do not water until the shepherds have departed, and our father is a very old man." So Moses felt pity for them and went to the well and uprooted a rock on the well that a group of the people of Madyan would gather to lift.
16827 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us: 'Ubayd Allah narrated to us: Isra'il reported, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Amr ibn Maymun al-Awdi, from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, that when Moses (peace be upon him) arrived at the water of Madyan, he found a community of people watering there. He said: When they finished, they replaced the rock over the well, and no one could lift it except ten men. He then found two women holding their sheep back. He said, "What is your affair?" They told him [their story], so he went to the rock and lifted it, and then did not draw more than one bucketful until the sheep were satisfied.
16828 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us: Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq: They said, "We do not water until the shepherds have departed." [They were] two women who could not overcome the men.
His saying, the Exalted: "And our father is a very old man."
16829 - Through the same chain, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq: "And our father is a very old man," who is unable to provide for himself and cannot water his livestock. "So we wait for the people, and when they have finished, we water, then we depart." So he took a bucket and went forward to the watering place with his superior strength, and he competed with the people at the water until he pushed them back from it, and then he watered for them.
His saying, the Exalted: "So he watered for them."
16830 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: 'Amr ibn Hammad ibn Talhah al-Qannad narrated to us: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: So Moses watered for them [one] bucket, and their sheep were satisfied, so they returned quickly; for they were only watering from the remains of the troughs.
His saying: "Walking with shyness."
16831 - Al-Hudhayl, from 'Umar: "Then one of the two came to him walking with shyness." He said: She came covering herself with the sleeve of her garment or the sleeve of her tunic.
