16844 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us: Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Harithi narrated to us, from al-Hajjaj, from al-Qasim ibn Abi Bazzah, from Mujahid, [regarding his strength]: His strength was that he lifted a rock that only a group of people could withstand—meaning His saying: "Indeed, the best of those you can hire is the strong, the trustworthy."
16845 - My father narrated to us: Abu Salih narrated to us: Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding his saying to Moses: "The strong, the trustworthy," he said: Strong in what he has been entrusted with.
16846 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us: Yazid narrated to us: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding his saying: "Indeed, the best of those you can hire is the strong, the trustworthy," he said: Strong in the craft.
16847 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me: Asbagh ibn al-Faraj informed us: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam narrated to us, regarding the saying of Allah: "The strong, the trustworthy." He said: He [the father] said to her: "What is your knowledge of his strength?" She said: "As for his strength, he uncovered the rock that was upon the well of the family of so-and-so, and it would not be uncovered except by seven men." Abu Muhammad [Ibn Abi Hatim] said: I saw the rock and measured it, and it was two spans and a hundred [units of measure] by my finger.
16848 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us: Musaddad narrated to us: Khalid narrated to us: Husayn narrated to us, from Abu Malik, [regarding]: "The strong, the trustworthy." He said to her: "What is his strength?" She said: "As for his strength, he used to fill the trough with a single bucket."
His saying, Exalted is He: "The trustworthy."
16849 - Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Abi al-Thalj narrated to us: Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us: Asbagh ibn Zayd al-Warraq informed us: al-Qasim ibn Abi Ayyub narrated to us: Sa'id ibn Jubayr narrated to us, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding his saying: "The trustworthy." His protective jealousy (ghayrah) compelled him to say: "And what informs you of his strength and his trustworthiness?" She said: "As for his trustworthiness, he looked at me when I delivered your message, then he said to me: 'Walk behind me and describe the path to me.' He would not have done this unless he were trustworthy." So, it was relieved from her father, and he believed her and thought of him as she had described.
16850 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us: Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Harithi narrated to us, from al-Hajjaj, from al-Hakam, from Shurayh, [regarding]: "Indeed, the best of those you can hire is the strong, the trustworthy," he said: As for his trustworthiness, he ordered her to walk behind him, and he lowered his gaze.
