16851 - My father, Abu Salih, narrated to me: Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding his saying to Moses: "The strong, the trustworthy," he said: Trustworthy in what he is entrusted with.
16852 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us: Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding his saying: "Indeed, the best of those you can hire is the strong, the trustworthy," [he said]: The trustworthy in what he is charged with.
16853 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah narrated to us: Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq: "Indeed, the best of those you can hire is the strong, the trustworthy." She had informed her father of his statement to her: "Indeed, we do not look at the backs of women," and of his statement—what he said to her, that she should walk behind him so that he would not see any part of her that he would dislike seeing—and that increased his desire for him.
16854 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us: Shababah narrated to us: Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding his saying: "The strong, the trustworthy," [he said]: He guarded his gaze from them when he watered for them, and they departed.
His saying, Exalted is He: "He said, 'Indeed, I wish to marry you one of these two daughters of mine.'"
16855 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me: Asbagh ibn al-Faraj informed us: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam narrated to us, regarding the saying of Allah: "Indeed, I wish to marry you one of these two daughters of mine, on the condition that you serve me for eight years." He said: "Which one do you wish to marry me to?" He said: "The one who called you." He said: "No, unless she is innocent of what has entered your soul regarding her." He said: "No, she is indeed as you think," and so he married her to him.
His saying: "On the condition that you serve me for eight years."
[16856] - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, and Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: Safwan narrated to us: al-Walid narrated to us: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, from al-Harith ibn Yazid al-Hadrami, from 'Ali ibn Rabah al-Lakhmi, who said: I heard 'Uqbah ibn al-Nudr al-Sulami, a companion of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), narrating that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Indeed, Moses (peace be upon him) hired himself out for the chastity of his private part and the food for his stomach."
His saying: "Eight years."
[16857] - Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Abi al-Thalj narrated to us: Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us: Asbagh ibn Zayd al-Warraq informed us: al-Qasim ibn Abi Ayyub narrated to us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, so he said:
١٦٨٥١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي أَبُو صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قوله لموسى: القوي الأمين، قَالَ: أَمِينٌ عَلَى مَا اسْتُودِعَ.
١٦٨٥٢ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يحي، أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَوْلَهُ: إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَنِ اسْتَأْجَرْتَ الْقَوِيُّ الأَمِينُ الأَمِينُ فَيمَا وَلِيَ.
١٦٨٥٣ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَنِ اسْتَأْجَرْتَ الْقَوِيُّ الأَمْينُ، وَقَدْ أَخْبَرَتْ أَبَاهَا بِقَوْلِهِ لَهَا: إِنَّا لَا نَنْظُرُ فِي أَدْبَارِ النِّسَاءِ، وَبِقَوْلِهِ: مَا قَالَ لَهَا أَنِ امْشِي خَلْفِي لِئَلا يَرَى مِنْهَا شَيْئًا مِمَّا يَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَرَاهُ فَزَادَ ذَلِكَ فِيهِ رَغْبَةً.
١٦٨٥٤ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَوْلُهُ: الْقَوِيُّ الأَمِينُ عَصَمَ طَرْفَهُ، عَنْهُمَا حِينَ سَقَى لَهُما فَصَدَرَتَا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: قَالِ إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُنْكِحَكَ إحدى ابنتي هاتين.
١٦٨٥٥ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ. فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، أَنْبَأَ أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ، ثنا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُنْكِحَكَ إِحْدَى ابْنَتَيَّ هَاتَيْنِ عَلَى أَنْ تَأْجُرَنِي ثَمَانِيَ حِجَجٍ قَالَ: فَأَيُّهُمَا تُرِيدُ أَنْ تُنْكِحَنِي؟ قَالَ: الَّتِي دَعَتْكَ، قَالَ: لَا. إِلا وَهِيَ بَرِيئَةٌ مِمَّا دَخَلَ نَفْسَكَ عليها، فقال: لا. هي، عند كذلك، فزوجه.
قوله: عَلَى أَنْ تَأْجُرَنِي ثَمَانِيَ حِجَجٍ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يحى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا صَفْوَانُ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنِ الحَارِث بْنِ يَزِيد الْحَضْرَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ اللَّخْمِيِّ، قال: سمعت، عنية بْنَ النُّدَّرِ السُّلَمِيَّ صَاحِبُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- يحدث أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- قَالَ: إِنَّ مُوسَى- عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ- أَجَّرَ نَفْسَهُ بِعِفَّةِ فَرْجِهِ وَطُعْمَةِ بَطْنِهِ.
