16863 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us: Yazid narrated to us: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Witness (Wakil)," meaning, a Guardian (Hafiz).
His saying, Exalted is He: "Then when Moses had completed the term."
16864 - Muhammad ibn Dawud al-Simnani narrated to us: Abu Hammam al-Walid ibn Shuja' narrated to us: 'Awbad ibn 'Abd al-Malik ibn Habib narrated to us, from his father, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Samit, from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to me: "O Abu Dharr, if you are asked which of the two terms Moses completed, say: 'The better and more perfect of the two.'"
16865 - My father narrated to us: al-Humaydi narrated to us: Sufyan narrated to us: Ibrahim ibn Yahya ibn Abi Ya'qub—who was of my age or younger than me—narrated to me, from al-Hakam ibn Aban, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) asked Jibril: "Which of the two terms did Moses complete?" He said: "The most complete and perfect of the two."
16866 - It was read to Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la: Ibn Wahb informed us: 'Amr ibn al-Harith informed us, from Yahya ibn Maymun al-Hadrami, from Yusuf ibn Sarj, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was asked: "Which of the two terms did Moses complete?" The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) asked Jibril (peace be upon him), and he said: "I have no knowledge." So Jibril asked an angel above him, who said: "I have no knowledge." Then that angel asked his Lord about what Jibril had asked him, concerning what Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) had asked him. The Lord (Mighty and Majestic) said: "The more pious and more lasting of them, or the more pure of them."
16867 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us: 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me. And Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: Safwan narrated to us: al-Walid narrated to us: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, from al-Harith ibn Yazid al-Hadrami, from 'Ali ibn Rabah al-Lakhmi, who said: I heard 'Utbah ibn al-Nudar al-Sulami, a Companion of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), narrating that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Moses hired himself out for the chastity of his private part and the nourishment of his stomach. When he fulfilled the term, it was said: 'O Messenger of Allah, which of the two terms?' He said: 'The more pious and more perfect of them.' When he wished to depart from Shu'ayb, he ordered his wife to ask her father to give her some of his sheep that they might live by. So he gave her what was born from his sheep as unique..."
